On a personal level I've bought a few bits and pieces online but anything over €25 you are likely to get caught for big import taxes (which my mom learned that hard way this week :skull: ) so I wouldn't really buy anything big from the UK anymore. Amazon used to be great for getting stuff way cheaper than here but not anymore. Luke wanted a face cam for his PS5 (which has to be the Sony one, no other is compatible) with taxes, duty and delivery it would have cost around €69 on Amazon, it cost be €49 to buy here with free delivery.

Exactly. If we had an honest and impartial media, folks would be well aware of how disastrous this has been but we don't, so attitudes like Adams will persist. That isn't a slight on Adam either, because unless you search for it and know what to look for, everything is being swept under the carpet by the same media organisations that helped the government lie us into this position to begin with.

Now is the time to invade Ireland when they are least expecting it - we have enough boats in the channel

We can set up super prisons and use robots to keep them non-rowdy

At least someone likes me on here :joker: Thanks for trying to save me!

Also, what are the British going to do about it? Stop selling the viewing rights of "The Crown" to Netflix France?

If brexit taught us anything, it's that you frenchies and ze germans will always come begging us to help them, so we just need to wait it out until you humble yourselves.

I'm sure the fact we just signed a £1billion trade agreement with India to replace the £250billion agreement we used to have with our Euronextdoorneighbours should have you suitably worried. When you're ready to show humility, then we can start talking :smug:

It was a joke, it's not that deep. I just came to reply to the threats of having me banned

As for the rest, I will just say that I work with British companies daily and we found a way to make it work despite all the changes Brexit brought on so many levels. It will take some time to adapt but we'll all get there eventually. I'm personally very sad to have seen you all leave, but it's just my anglophile heart talking.

My beloved charisma and incredible persuading skills eventually helped. I really should have been on the negotiating team during Brexit

Actually it was a 3 way system and without anyone of the 3 countries Germany would have won, we won the battle of the skies and the battle of the seas and our intelligence was by far the best of any countries led by the fact we had to destroy the French who were our allies to stop the Nazis taking control

Denver 06-05-2021 05:28 PM

Let's not forget we also single handily stopped the Nazis entering British land

Us being an island is the major factor in that; if we shared a European land border then we'd have been occupied like France or the Netherlands. I'm not diminishing the effort of our pilots, armed forces, and our outstanding intelligence service, coupled with the development of radar, but this romanticism over the facts is weird.

bots 06-05-2021 06:09 PM

everyone always diminishes the role the russians played in the 2nd world war. They took a large proportion of hitlers attention away from other fronts and lost millions of people defending moscow. That contributed as much as anything else to britain holding on

We won the battle for the skies? Our RAF prevented German air superiority over our country but that was where our superiority ended.

The German invasion of Russia mixed with the hubris of Hitler thinking he could take them in a couple of months was basically the beginning of the end for them. He then had to plough resources into the eastern front. Also, ironically, Hitlers fondness for Britain and it's empire was another main factor in us never being occupied.

Yeah, completely agree. Suffered the most casualties, and would have ended the war on their own without the thankful arrival of the US to spare the rest of Europe going from a German dictator to a Russian one.

Captain.Remy 06-05-2021 06:22 PM

Looks like the talks didn’t end well today, the French fishermen went back being furious and now this is going back to Macron and Johnson having to sort it out. :skull:
