Lily has been touted for months as a nod toto Lilibet. A quick google will show countless articles showing that

…yeah, I was just about to post as well that it was also speculated that the shortened version of Lily would be used only the media spelled it with a ‘y’ and it’s an ‘i’….the queen is also the first person to always approve names of any children born into the family so she would have approved any name that has been made official….obviously the media are their usual predictable selves of …oh really, how outrageous…how can we now spin this story to create this OUTRAGE….

A 'possible' nod to Lilibet by calling the child Lily, a name I see they liked, isn't the same as actually christening the child Lilibet though...and isn't she going to get 'Lili'.

Because parents rarely wait until after a baby is born to discuss names.

Unless the Queens, Prince Philips and Prince Charles's official biographers are all outed as outrageous liars I'll take it they know better than me that it was his special name for her, used affectionatley only by him since the death of her father and Margaret. :hee:

The whole family know about the name...the public know about the name....whether Philip was the only one to use it, what does that actually matter? I'm really struggling as to why naming her Lilibet could be seen as any kind of slight.

It really is astounding that this is yet another stick to beat them with :shrug: I can get the other family stuff but the birth of a child and the subsequent naming of that child is just bad taste imo and actually quite sad :sad:

To be fair with the royals being obsessed by tradition and keeping things formal, you can’t really imagine any one calling the queen lilibet apart from her late father and prince Philip can you?

Didn’t one of the royals recently name there child as a tribute to prince Philip

William and Harry referred to the queen as grandma lilibet, so the whole blinking family used it

Can you give me a reference on that? Which biographies? Which authors? On what pages?

Because to be frank - you back up an awful lot of your points with the evidence that "a royal source said it" or "a royal biographer wrote about it" but you never actually say where. We're just supposed to accept that they did... because you say so. It's not really evidence, is it... you could say literally whatever you want followed by "one of the biographers wrote it just trust me" :idc:.

Ok, i really don't wanna get involved in a Harry and Megan discussion ever again, it's always the same BS. I don't care for them i don't care what they do anymore. Anyway, the reason im popping in is to ask what 'licencing' a name actually means? Is it like, a future or current celeb wont be legally allowed to use that particular name as stage name or something??
