[Rescue workers and volunteers are
digging through sludge in parts
of western Europe,
where the number of people who died
in flash floods is now over 180 - and
as the rushing waters reach Austria.]

also in Germany water levels are going down to more normal levels again

and the crisis situation seems to be coming to an end

death count at 160, and many of the reported missing had been located/found

and now over 2.500 people have been deployed to help out restoring the power grid, clean up all the debris, pump all the water out

back to NL, Limburg Giro 777 now at 5.7 million euro

I have friends and family in Germany, near Wesel, a little north of the bad floods. Thank God they were all unaffected apart from one farm suffering flooded fields. Heart breaking for people who've lost loved ones and/or their home.

NL: Limburg the military will now help out with cleaning, fortifying with more sandbags across the river, and rebuilding of homes

Nicky91 21-07-2021 08:30 AM

lots of trash has gotten into the river Maas, which needs to be removed either

Ammi 21-07-2021 08:37 AM

…it’s horrendous and surreal as we’re in the grips of a heat wave, that there would be such devastation so not that far away….the rebuild will be a very costly thing and hopefully will receive much aid and that has to be the focus now…poor, poor people…

Germany's channel Sat1 showed a recap documentary about this tragedy in some of worst affected areas last night in their show AKTE

showing the destruction, but also the aftermath and now rebuilding/restoring everything

poor 86 yr old woman lost her daughter, but also many photo albums and diaries lost in the flood :( she even cannot enter her home the normal way anymore, now she has to climb a hill and then climb down onto her terrace via a stool, which is difficult for someone her age

Nicky91 30-07-2021 08:18 AM

Germany's channel Sat1 its charity show for floodings

raised 31.155.340 euro

:clap1: :clap1:
