I've got cousins in Kilmarnock, I think it's lovely there... Culzean castle is stunning and the Ayrshire coast... My parents love to drive up to the north of Scotland, it's a very beautiful country. Although I stayed in Coatbridge for a while... it's where they'll stick the tube.

:umm2: They must live in one of the nicer parts of Kilmarnock, it is rough in places and the centre is in serious decline. I've been jumped twice in my life - BOTH TIMES were in Kilmarnock :joker:. And the second time the guy gave up on mugging us half way through and instead started crying... "Sorry I'm greetin'" he said. "I've just stabbed ma brother". And turned round and walked off! Good old Killie.

I mean... classic heroin DocuDrama "The Scheme" was filmed there.

We also went on primary school trips to Culzean Castle 3 or 4 times :joker:. It is nice to be fair, we took the kids a couple of summers back, so I must have some good memories of it or something.

I guess being fair on balance, Ayrshire is nice enough as a physical location, and there are some lovely smaller villages, but a lot (all) of the actual towns are extremely run-down. And the sectarianism problem is genuinely massive.

Troon Beach is a great beach but I swear the entire population of Glasgow descends on it if the temperature goes anywhere near 20. "Yuck" even pre-covid. We watched a lightning storm at night over the water there as a group of teens which was pretty amazing :flutter:... then my mate wrote off his mum's car on the way home and I got whiplash. Memories of Ayrshire pouring back now

North Yorkshire, near the north East coast.
Was born about 3 or 4 miles away from where we live now.

7 weeks off but we both work remotely when we're in Scotland at my in-laws.
We plan on going in August but we must quarantine (because Boris is so nice, he opened up the borders for everybody except for people living in France even though we're fully-vaccinated)
When the baby will come, we'll stay in France for some time and will try to split our time differently.

Fully-vaccinated passengers returning to England, Scotland and Northern Ireland from France will no longer need to quarantine after Sunday.

…wonderful news, Remy……you were the first person I thought of….well, you plus my brother and sister in law, as two of their daughters live in Paris and one is pregnant atm with her first child…so their regular back and forth visiting will be a lot easier now….we love the smooth Anglo/French connections……
