Our big gathering on 29th is cancelled, trying to figure out an alternative, we'll figure something out [emoji3059]

i think the governments that have rushed to put restrictions on across the world are going to regret it pretty quickly. People will just not stand for it any more, particularly when this variant is proving very mild. There will be a sea change after this

Aww that's rubbish, hopefully you get something else sorted

So there I was all clothes and presents packed ready to go home for Christmas, excited about a big night in the village pub. Did a quick covid test like my parents had asked aaannnddd it's positive :skull: so no pub tonight, no family meal tomorrow, no boxing day football and will have to see if I can get over it in time to do anything for new years

On the bright side I'm loaded up with booze and have just cracked open the Baileys with an Indian takeaway on order so

Crimson Dynamo 24-12-2021 06:01 PM

Ex Mrs LT and I decided not to test this Christmas. Its most likely my mums last
Christmas and her mum who is up from London is 92 and her husband (Ex-
MrsLTs Dad died 3 weeks ago at 94, not covid). Oldest girl Lts partner tested
pos this week (only 1 jag and no excuse) 4 neg tests for her. We are not letting
his stupidity ruin our Christmas. Its a balance and its one we discussed and
decided on.

Yeah I'm not a big one for constant testing in a situation where covid is becoming something to live with rather than fear and everyone vulnerable is triple jabbed. My folks are still a bit anxious about it though so wanted the certainty of a negative test

Yeah tbh the engagement party probably shouldn't have gone ahead last weekend because most of us who went now have covid lol but ah well, we are where we are

Most Christmas days I wake up with the mother of all hangovers so will see how different this year is :hee:

Just been around to his house to drop his presents off and he won't even let me in his house, it has to be a doorstep conversation. He listens to Boris religiously, like Arista does.

My mother is totally different. I'll be going to hers on Christmas eve and she won't even care about the Covid stuff.

He is probably self medicating himself with alcohol and mince pie’s

MTVN 26-12-2021 01:14 PM

I feel fine thanks Cherie, my only symptoms were a slightly sore throat and mild cough and a bit of fatigue at the end of last week but yesterday and today I've felt absolutely fine. I remember this time last year just after Christmas I had a really bad cold which I thought was Covid but wasn't and that was a lot worse than this has been

I'm hoping I'll get my first negative in the next couple of days

Actually haven't had a single mince pie this year but there has been a lot of alcohol involved in my recovery

Bet you get long covid needing many months of rehabilitation in your local pub

Are you going to do the 2 Tests
1st on your 6th day etc.

thesheriff443 26-12-2021 05:19 PM

Have they reduced the isolation time from 10 to 7 days?

Yesh I'm taking tests every day and will stop isolating as soon as I get 2 negatives, I didn't bother doing a pcr as it was Christmas eve and I knew I had it so the government doesn't actually have any visibility of my result atm

I have left the house for walks and popped home yesterday to leave presents and pick up a Christmas Dinner, have things planned like a golf day and dinner on the 28th though which obviously I don't want to go to if I'm still positive..

MTVN 26-12-2021 07:52 PM

Me walking into the pub on New Year's eve

bots 26-12-2021 08:19 PM

i think its important to get the negative test for confirmation to yourself that it's over and isnt going to bite you a week or 2 down the line

MTVN 27-12-2021 01:25 PM

I am now officially negative and ready to party
