Meh, I don't think he'd need to pull a stunt to get certain roles though, he's one of the most in demand actors there is. I just can't see how this really could be in anyway good for a guy who is top of his game and almost universally liked

Difference is I don't actually think Ricky would have made a joke like that. He does go close to the bone but his jokes are better thought out than that. That one was just mean spirited and not even funny either

If you look at the awards ceremonies where Ricky Gervais has been roasting people, he tends to mostly "punch up" (or seemingly up, it's more sideways as he is also very rich :joker: ) but he's usually taking aim at their wealth/status/how seriously they take themselves etc... I can even see him taking the piss out of DELIBRATE style/image choice... but I don't think he'd comment on something that was a result of a medical condition. Like you *can* do it but you'd only ever do it with someone you know very well, and who you are very sure will find it funny. e.g. I have a friend who has Type 1 diabetes, I've known him forever (since long before he was even diagnosed) and we've ALWAYS made "diabetes related" jokes. But I wouldn't make the same jokes with a random aquaintance or co-worker :umm2:.

If he'd just shouted clearly angry like he did afterwards I think he'd have gotten the point across. In fact, I think the audience thought it was a planned part of the show until he followed up with the shouting.

Yes he did assault
on Chris.

But Chris has not called the Cops.

So he gets away with it.

Some like on Ch5HD 9:15AM Live debate
want him stripped of his Oscar.

Even LBC 10AM Live Left Winger
wasted one hour on it.

Yes Ricky would not pick on a Wife
with a Condition.

Yes absolutely agree.

As a side note I'm not condoning Will hitting Chris Rock btw, he absolutely should not have put his hands on him

Crimson Dynamo 28-03-2022 10:23 AM

If Smith was the size of Rock and Rock the size of Smith

Smith would have stayed sat in his chair

The Smith Clan are pretty easy targets to take the piss out of - Will and Jada named their kids Willow and Jaden :joker: it's funny how they tried to be a Hollywood Family when Will's the only one with any talent :hehe:

Agreed, a woman shaving her head (for whatever reason) just isn't funny, any more than a man having long hair is.

I can't agree with the violent reaction per se, but good on him for standing up for his wife's condition.

Not necessarily. There was millions of witnesses who can call the cops, it's all on film, the cops can see it for themselves. Arrest the guy for assault, what they waiting for?

I haven't heard Rock's "jokes" as yet ,I know he slated Smith's wife though.

But I wouldn't be surprised if this was a little staged, just seems peculiar how last year's Oscars was classed as the most "boring'' ,and this year's was again called 'underwhelming' until Will Smith HIT Chris Rock in his face.

After it happened didn't Rock say "this is the best show" . Or something to that effect ,so he probably enjoyed winding Smith up. And now it's the most talked about award show for all the wrong reasons.

But then saying that we all know how these comedians at these award shows like to push the boundaries, Rock has no filter plus Smith is a loose cannon. So whether alcohol was involved aswell ... Most likely.

I don't think we need to go there, it's enough of a story on its own without adding hypotheticals and imagined reverse racism to it
