Also, I think Dario probably needs to move on at this point. I know some relationships are tougher to get over than others, but c'mon dude.

he was an annoying character anyway, I'd rather not have him back

Dario had serious identity issues too. He changed dramatically one series to the next

The first one had a really over pronounced facial features. He was simultaneously handsome, and difficult to look at.

I just convinced myself that he was a new boyfriend of Khaleesi. :)

Well, imo if you thought the movies were only OK then ROP won't do much for you because they're a lot worse than the Films (which I loved)

Oh ROP is definitely weaker than the Films imo.

Niamh is right in that sense, if you didn't love the Trilogy then it's unlikely that you're gonna love ROP because imo it's weaker quality.

But then I suppose the same could be said for HOTD, if you don't love GOT then you're chances of loving HOTD should be low imo.

Sorry to say I'm afraid it's the opposite for me; I find Rings of Power barely watchable specifically BECAUSE I love the original trilogy. I'd say compare it to the "Shadow of..." LOTR games - completely different storyline, I don't think they're official canon, however they capture the FEEL of the movies perfectly.

Rings of Power misses the mark by a mile. Tone, filmography, sound track... it just misses on every aspect. If it was a random standalone fantasy series I think I'd find it decent enough but as LOTR it's just a huge disappointment.

Fair enough.

I meant though that quality wise I feel like the Trilogy is better than ROP, so I'd personally be surprised if someone preferred ROP to LOTR.

Welcome to the Forum btw.:wavey:

I tried watching the Lord of the Rings spin-off series last night .. managed about 15 minutes and left them climbing up a wall of ice ….Game of Thrones did that better :)

I may try again tonight but I found it remarkably slow moving and tedious ..

Is it really worth persisting with ??

Does it get a lot better ... soon ?

Not really, it's pretty slow most of the way through, the characters aren't great or likable/engaging either (imo)

Pacing is both Fantasy Shows weakness imo.

I just felt that ROP's slowness at least was building up potential storylines for the second Season.

Oh and less man hating.

The characters are the main thing for me .. that’s where why felt GOT was so compelling .

Vikings had Ragnar Lothbrok of course

Season 2 is out now. I watched the first episode in the hope that they had picked up the pace. Unfortunately, it remains the same

Don't think I'll bother with it

GoldHeart 08-09-2024 07:48 PM

I haven't watched either ,but from what I gather...

Rings Of Power is more family friendly...so I'd be more inclined to watch that ,plus I was never a big GOT fan.

Niamh. 08-09-2024 07:56 PM

Scrap that Gav wants to watch it so I'll be viewing it tonight [emoji23]

In Season 1 I felt like Rings Of Power had more of a plot going on, and better worldbuilding than House Of The Dragon personally.

I haven't seen either Show's second Season though.

who cares about ***** overhyped lord of the rings, never watched it, because they all take way too long

same goes for harry potter, also never got the hype of those way too long films
