Exactly. No wonder many are leaving.

SkyShowtime has got lots for everyone

all Star Trek classic films, as well as Jurassic Park/World collection, Indiana Jones collection

new films such as Top Gun: Maverick, Ambulance

the whole ''Yellowstone'' collection of (1883, 1923 and Yellowstone)

much better streaming service than Netflix

and Disney+ in general is still great too, for those already customers, the price remains the same, rather than stupid Netflix their their making prices go up also for existing customers which is a stupid move which obviously makes more people leave

Unfortunately they built a huge platform that was bolstered by being a monopoly on any sort of decent quality streaming... but with Prime branching out into self-made content, Disney+ buying up studios and gaining a load of content that way, and big networks like HBO having their own thing going on as well... Netflix just went in totally the wrong direction IMO. They found themselves needing "as much content as possible" and as a result a lot of that content is really poor quality... whereas they used to have a smaller number of "flagship" shows that were much higher quality. A lot of those have ended or are ending (e.g. Stranger Things) and they haven't replaced them with high quality material.

Don't get me wrong, I'm keeping my sub because I actually adore trash telly, and I actually love shows like "Too Hot To Handle", "Love Is Blind" and "The Ultimatum" but I can appreciate that it's really not what most people are after... especially when they're UPPING prices.

I've had Disney+ basically free for ages now. I got 2x "6 months for 800 Tesco Clubcard points" in a row and then just when that ran out, I got 12 months free with my phone contract renewal. And my original sub was a "pre order" thing that was like £25 for the first year. So I'll have had 3 years of Disney+ for £41. Just over £1 a month. Not bad .

I think being fair there are cases where I've seen Shows do forced diversity, but it doesn't necessarily mean the Show has to be bad either.

And again being fair I have seen white characters being shoehorned into programmes in recent years where the writers haven't had a clue on what to do with them because they're only there to tick the white character box.

I haven't seen either Film, but they both look like they're doing their thing well.

After all there's nothing wrong with an attractive woman leading a Film, just like there's nothing wrong with a more feminist type of character leading a Film (as long as it doesn't man hate) but I'm gonna guess that both Films are at least okay in quality.

People should have Disney+ just to watch Spider-Man: The Animated Series if they're like me and didn't watch it in the 90's, Tron Uprising, and the underrated Iron-Man 1990's Cartoon, Season 2 in particular has some really strong episodes.

Again apologies to anyone I'm annoying with over posting.

But I just want to say if anyone wants high quality Netflix content I'd check one of these Shows out if you haven't already.

Mindhunter
Dark
Sense8
The Haunting Of Hill House (ignore the terrible Bly Manor)
Alice In Borderland
Arcane
Dark Crystal TV Series

And if you're looking for decent but not exceptional Shows imo.

The Sandman
The Rain

And tbh that's about it.

Bly Manor was decent, not as good as Hill House but pretty good

Bly Manor has the better ending, I think. The only real criticism I have for Hill House is that they fumble the ending a bit.

I'll always remember how devastating the Bly Manor ending was.

Yeah it was really sad. Hill House was much more horror than Bly Manor though which is what I was expecting from Bly Manor so that's why i was a little disappointed with it

Vanessa 15-03-2023 03:35 PM

I have an app now that I use to watch TV and movies now. It's pretty good.

We're only allowed to vaguely allude to dodgy streaming apps and torrents, shhh :joker:

I like it because they show Laurel and Hardy movies.

I think Bly kind of dragged when they weren't drawing on the material from Turning of the Screw.

user104658 15-03-2023 04:29 PM

I couldn't un-hear Peppa Pig in Bly Manor which sort of broke the 4th wall a bit.

Tom4784 15-03-2023 04:44 PM

Midnight Mass was pretty great too, although it's not considered part of the Haunting series but it's by the same person.

I can't respect the fact that Bly Manor tried to be snotty towards Horror fans with the whole "it was a love story all along" where as I felt that Hill House was more faithful to the Horror genre.
