We definitely could've done better imo.

I understand being defensive against the really good sides, but not games like this where we should just dominate comfortably.

It was a real effort to sit through it for me.
An extremely boring game with really no highlights.

Poor is the only description in my view.

Very dull

I don't hate it, the USA are a pretty good side and the point basically gets us through. England fans are a bit entitled these days, you should never expect to walk a group or demolish everyone who is lower ranked than you. Just ask the Argies or the Germans

So typical of England….leaving it until the final game and keeping us on the edge of our seats….:fist:
Disappointing but USA did play well…

in fairness to southgate, his tactics have been successful in getting england out the group stages in the last few tournaments. Wales aren't going to beat england 4-0

The problem comes at the knockout stage where the teams they meet have the potential to beat england due to those same tactics. In the last couple of tournaments england have had a pretty easy ride during the knockout phases and the same may happen again this time round, who knows

If they want to qualify, they need to do more than beat them.

Plus they would need USA to beat Iran.

Alf 26-11-2022 12:00 AM

Wales have to beat us by 6 goals just to get level with us on goal difference. The USA vs Iran result doesn't make any difference to us no matter how it ends up.

We're through to the knock out stages because Wales ain't beating us by 6 goals

The USA didn't even put Trusty in their squad.

They're basically ripe for the taking by making that mistake.

In the Euros we had to play Germany, Denmark & Ukraine.

Who is the easy ride there?

4 goals. (It would then be 6-6 to Wales 5-3)

(ENG v IRN 6-2 ----- WAL v USA 1-1)
(ENG v USA 0-0 ------ WAL v IRN 0-2)

3 goals to level, but England would go through due to scored goals (6-5 to Wales 4-3)

(^ Above scenario if it ends 4-0)

----------
IRN v USA does matter, but not exactly how I said it. My mistake.
