runs away.

At the Next Election.

I think Raab is pretty certain his seat will fall to the LibDems in the next election.

Depriving his constituents the chance to vote him out, a last act of cruelty

There is a high likelihood of a massive swing to labour at the next election and Raab has a small majority so he would be out on his ass.

It's also worth remembering that the majority of those standing down are career politicians , so when they have reached their maximum trajectory in a particular field, they move on. That's standard behaviour for that type of mp

Really it's the goal - they make more $$$ once they're out and can start consulting/engaging with private entities.

Good luck to Bill Cash.
Nearly 40 years an MP.

Well done on that.

Another Chicken

[Tory MP Steve Brine has announced he is standing
down at the next election.
In a letter to his
local association, Brine said it was time for
a “new chapter” in his life after serving as MP
for Winchester and Chandler’s Ford since 2010.
Being found to have broken lobbying
rules earlier this year might’ve clarified
his thinking too…]

joeysteele 15-07-2023 09:18 AM

Far better at this rate to just have a general election it seems.

Get people into Parliament who actually want to be there.
Hopefully more too for the right reasons not just for status.

bots 15-07-2023 09:55 AM

he knows he is not going to get the nato job now, and thats why he stayed in parliament

arista 15-07-2023 06:00 PM
