Isn't that a bit odd that the BBC won't let their workers express their own opinions in the contract?

I agree.

This lot have had power now around 13 years.
Remember Cameron in 2010 stating he intended to bring in a cap on immigration.

How many PMs, have there been since him.
Nothing done.

It's a really difficult issue and one that needs respect for others lives and compassion.
Not the rhetoric of Braverman who is now it seems saying she didn't see or read that message that went out in HER name.
Lord above and that waste of space is the Home secretary.

She shouldn't have ANY power over anyone elses lives and not those in a possibly desperate situation.
She's a hard-line heartless lover of power only.

I doubt anyone would not agree that the boats need to be stopped..
However not really going for the criminals who organise those boats while criminalising the refugees/immigrants for being manipulated by them.
Well that's a disgrace in any shape or form.

Until I heard Bravernan this morning I was willing to see how this went.
However her spiteful, hard-line crazy figures scaremongering has convinced me this is just to create more division and prejudice, AND further fuel the hate and prejudice that already exists.

Lineker maybe has a kind of valid point he's trying to make in fact.

This.

It's a scary world where you can be sacked for saying an unpopular opinion.

He didn't express it on the BBC though.

He's a voter and taxpayer like multi millions of others and has as much right as any other voter or taxpayer to either praise or condemn government policies.
IN his OWN free time.

It's not that unusual to be fair, I'd have to have some awkward conversations at my work if I went on an overly-political rant on Social Media and I'm obviously not anyone high profile or with a following. There's an expectation of professionalism and level-headedness though.

That's why I come on here and barf it all out anonymously :joker:

I agree with you on Braverman.

Crimson Dynamo 08-03-2023 09:36 PM

Only if you were a police could you rant off racism and sexism and rapism on social media and not expect any come back

stands to reason

I'm just saying that companies shouldn't be controlling how their employees express themselves.

I just feel that people should be allowed to express their opinions on the Government.

We're not China... Yet.

Alf 08-03-2023 09:42 PM

Anyway, enough of big lugs hogging the headlines.

What's happening with the Covid fallout? They know how to make the Matt Hancock stuff play second fiddle in no time, don't they.

I wouldn't be surprised if Lineker was paid to tweet that to shift the looking eyes away.

The BBC isn't special, they should be accepting of people having their opinions.

Plus he's only a sports presenter.

He's not involved in serious programmes or any political programming..
Or even news programming either.

I think the BBC lost any moral high ground following the Saville revelations and crimes.

If anyone wants to ask my honest opinion on Israel, I've supplied it multiple times over the years. Now the reality of that heinous state is finally coming to light, I'm happy to express it again for the people at the back.
