The idea that all of these academics and scientists are part of a grand global conspiracy and/or in the pockets of [wherever the supposed financial gain is today] is just silly. Silly, far fetched nonsense. "Hunter Biden's laptop that contains an advanced AI that controls the US government is faking climate change because Rishi Sunak wants to put tax up by 2p in the pounds or something". Drives me nuts. If someone fancies posing an actual believable reason that there would be a grand global conspiracy to fake it then I'm willing to listen. Currently... It just doesn't make sense. So as long as 90+% of professionals in the field are saying "these climate fluctuations are outwith what's normal and here's how human industrial activity is affecting it"... I'm going to believe it's that simple. And not believe that they're all government shills. Which is daft. And I've only ever heard it being said by laypeople with no actual expertise. The only thing I think is of note, is that it is clearly the widescale activity of huge manufacturing economies and other large scale things that are quite clearly the major causes... Things that us average Joe's can do absolutely nothing about. The idea that someone cycling to work or doing a bit of lift-sharing is going to make any difference at all vs. a BRIC factory churning away 24/7 is also daft. So I'm not actually saying that people should believe it with a view to actually doing anything about it. Just that it's better to accept reality than delude oneself with more comfortable lies. "Everything it's fine, it's just the tax man wanting a wee bit more" must be a nice headspace to exist in. "We broke the planet, wups!" is a harder sell :joker:. |
The whole climate argument has been hijacked and politicised so whether it's real, over exaggerated or inconsequential, in the general scheme of things, is all largely now irrelevant. There will never be a consensus to take action and big business will continue to hijack it for exploitation of the masses.
The world is imploding on its own without even considering climate change. That is a far more immenent and ever present threat than anything else |

What we really need is for our leaders to jet in from all over the world, and take their multi-car cavalcades across the country to discuss the issue

Under the headline "Heatwave from hell", the paper has a striking image of a child being carried away from wildfires in Greece.] https://liveblog.digitalimages.sky/l...2e95dae93f.png |
BBC News Text:
[For a second day running, the i has a front page slot for the European heatwave. Then here comes carbon tax and what's the chance that 80% of the western world population will willingly pay this tax out of shear guilt at what THEY did to the planet.... Yep, feel guilty folks, YOU did this! Well, they can F-off, I'm not paying it! |
