well in his video he is wearing rags like a pauper from Oliver Twist and the video is a hideous morose standard unimaginative lets pretend to have simulated sex (with himself) in a crack den besdit type affair

so it will need to ramp up somewhat to cover up a crap song

Great point Ammi

I also agree as to what he will wear on the night too.
He has a very infectious personality.

Despite his inward anxieties at times, he is a really warm person to interact with.
He's had success in Europe.

So with Eurovision you never know
The UK isn't politically a well liked Nation, however I just think Olly could connect more than others will give him credit for .

One thing I'm certain of is, he'll give it his all and do his very best, no matter what happens.

BBC told to drop Eurovision pick Olly Alexander for calling Israel ‘apartheid regime’

He signed open letter condemning ‘Zionist propaganda’ after October 7 massacre

https://i.ytimg.com/vi/L0prIhkPq9I/hqdefault.jpg

The BBC is being urged to drop pop singer Olly Alexander as the UK’s
Eurovision Song Contest entrant after he signed an open letter that branded
Israel an “apartheid regime” and a “violent colonialist state”.

On Saturday, the faded Years and Years singer was announced as the UK’s
representative for the contest in Sweden next year, but his appointment was
swiftly criticised.

The letter, which was published less than two weeksafter the
October 7 massacre[/B], is titled “International Queer Solidarity with Palestine”(:umm2:)

and has been signed by over 1,400 LGBTQ+ individuals and organisations
including Alexander, who is gay.

The letter called solidarity with Palestine a “queer issue".......

the eurovision hasn't been a contest for decades. A couple of years ago, was there ever going to be another winner other than Ukraine? Does anyone think Israel stands any chance of winning this year? Does anyone actually think a country that supports Israel has any chance of winning? It is not a song contest

i used to think like that too, you know

but i move on  something what the UK haven't been doing in the contest LOL

we also care for authenticity now

acts like Kalush Orchestra, Go_A, Konstrakta, and now from this years class Joost Klein, Silvester Belt, Alyona Alyona & Jerry Heil, Megara, Raiven, Gate, 5Miinust & Puuluup, Mustii are all very authentic real artists

in terms of the big names competing this year

Olly is way weaker than France's Slimane (Mon Amour is a very typical, very french, but very effective love ballad) i love Slimane since his duet with Vitaa, in ''Avant Toi''

Serbia another good choice last night (many many great acts again in PZE btw) Teya Dora her music video has a very game of thrones feeling, her ballad a serbian ''billie eilish no time to die'' i think

Nicky91 05-03-2024 08:14 AM

if Olly flops at ESC

i will put a artist forward for 2025 to the BBC

- Nathan Evans

or

- James Morrison (the absolute king of vocals)

If the BBC removes Olly, then good luck to them finding a singer out there who will openly be pro-Israel, because they won't find many, especially that might have any talent.

Maybe start at one who isnt pro- Terrorism and see how they go there?

Sadly on your last lines you are right.
Netanyahu and his governnent are damaging Israel's image across the World
I have always sympathised with Israel.
I cannot now be comfortable looking at awful Netanyahu and his hard line government's actions.
I'm pleased Israel haven't been thrown out of Eurovision although they've had to change the lyrics of their song I believe.
Which I don't see why they had to at all.

As for the article.
I won't give it the time of day myself..
Neither it appears has the media, since it was known barely weeks after Olly was announced as our entrant.
After he announced he was on Strictly..

Anyhow I can't get the chorus of his song out my head so all I hope for him, is he does really well.
If he doesn't, well it won't be because he didn't try his very best.
I just wish him the very best of luck..

Nicky91 05-03-2024 12:31 PM

remove Olly, go with Nathan

i doubt Nathan has any strong political views with his laidback approach to life as a sea shanty pop royalty

:flutter:

Black Dagger 05-03-2024 12:40 PM

Stop trying to make Nathan Evans happen

No thanks

I quite like Nathan but far prefer Olly.

Crimson Dynamo 05-03-2024 01:01 PM

Now this IS a winner

Tbf, the pro-Palestine camp will say that Israel are behaving like tyrants towards the Palestinians, and imho I don't believe that those people would be that far off with their opinion.

I get that the Palestinians have definitely displayed some ugly traits themselves, there's definitely no excuses that can be made for October 7th, because we do know that a lot of regular Palestinian people did support that horrific attack on innocent Israelis that were if I'm not mistaken, just attending a Music Festival.

However I do unfortunately think that when a leadership isn't working for a community through any of the more peaceful channels, then there really isn't much of a choice being given to Palestine other than aligning with Hamas, unfortunately.

Tbh, the whole Israel and Palestine war is unfortunate imo, basically regular people on both sides are getting brainwashed into hating the other side and risking their own lives on top of it, whilst Netanyahu and the leaders of Hamas both hide away from the horror that they've created, just rinse and repeating the same horror story over and over again, they're both villains imo.

And like you Joey, I do feel sorry for Israel, because thanks to Netanyahu and his supporters, Nazi sentiment is creeping back into the mainstream again when it comes to what people think about the Jewish people.

I'm not saying that Olly is a Nazi btw, I'm just thinking about some of the other stories that I've heard about recently, like the bizarre propaganda that SNL put out for the three University Principals.

To show you what I'm on about.

Real:

SNL version:

And yes, SNL did take the piss out of the woman attacking the two women for saying "it depends on the context," on if it's okay to incite genocide on the Jewish community, instead of ridiculing the two women that thought that those answers were okay.

Let's just say, apart from showing people this particular video, I will never go near their content for new stuff ever again, they literally tried to defend these two lunatics.

And hopefully Olly can do well, Joey.:fc:

Yeah we have already agreed that .. mainly due to politics and the fact that many countries abhor us .

Fact is - it’s a wonderfully melodic track

just give us a good representation of the british music scene, how hard can that be :idc: and such a mediocre mess coming from Danny L Harle (he should be ashamed of delivering this pile of garbage compared to his usual work)
