Nah, couldn't give two hoots if he sings the song or not. Half the players don't sing it.

How he manages is a different matter....that I will hold him to account for.

He's only interim manager anyway isn't he? Don't think he's that arsed about money or fame.

Cherie 07-09-2024 07:08 PM

I very much doubt the Icelandic Manager of Ireland sang Amhran Na BhFiann, and I have seen countless managers over the years not sing national anthems not sure why this has been given column inches must be a slow news day

He only played for ROI because he wasn't good enough to play for England.

And I'm saying this as someone that does like Lee Carsley, although I'm not sure about him being the England Manager.

Very disrespectful Mock, some players will choose Ireland over England

You are not all that, its been like 900 years since you won anything

I couldn’t really care if he wants to sing the national anthem or not. It’s his prerogative if he wants to sing it or not and it’s his choice as to what country he chooses to represent regarding his heritage is concerned.

Considering he is managing the England team albeit as an interim I can understand peoples frustration on not singing the national anthem but I’m more concerned about the results of the game and how the players perform, and that’s what I would judge him on.

Beso 07-09-2024 07:16 PM

I'm only bothered if he doesnt wear a poppy

It's all they've got..if they ain't winning, they are looking for excuses. They think its their God given right to be on top of the pile. Bunch of fairies, absolutely no team spirit either.

Actually, someone else wants to give him the money and kudos why in earth would he pass the opportunity up? And why on earth would someone sing something if they dont mean it. That shows weakness to the opposition, a man who would bow down to the baying public and thier opinions has no place as a sports leader

Nobhead

If you want to manage the national team then sing the national anthem

Great response 👍

Nah, if he doesn't want to sing it, there's no reason he should.

I wish we had a different anthem anyhow myself, I think ours is boring.
I still find I sing Queen instead of King too.
Old habits die hard.

However I don't think anyone should have to sing it who doesn't wish to.

With all due respect, but with Republic and Northern Ireland's talent pool being split into two national teams it does make it easier for someone like Lee Carsley to get into the team.

Where as he wouldn't have got in the midfield for England back then, and I am saying this as someone that liked Lee Carsley for Blues and Everton.

Edit... I didn't mean to be disrespectful btw, I do realize that I probably should've worded a bit better.

Plus I do like to see both Ireland National teams do well, as I feel sorry for the fact that they are disadvantaged by being split in two.

I do 100% agree with this.

England aren't the best team in Football (apart from one tournament) and we do have a habit of looking for excuses when we don't win them.

The only one where I feel like England were genuinely probably robbed would have to be the Hand Of God, because come on!

But other than that, England have more than likely just not been good enough.

neither did Il Trap, when he was in charge of Ireland

Beso 08-09-2024 07:58 AM

I would be more concerned about rice not celebrating his goal..tells me who he really thinks he is.

Sing or not sing, personal choice.
I remember years ago my mother didn’t stand up and sing the anthem at the British legion club. You think she had killed the cat the way the people went on about it.

England have had 2 foreign managers, neither of which sang the anthem, zero outcry
