Dean is a liar…even in his interview one minute he said he exaggerated his comments about Sarah to get more blood and when AJ pulled him up on the fact he repeated it to her in the living room he said “cos I speak the truth…”…

AJ and Will were speechless…

Trying to suggest that viewpoint is on par with homophobia is an absolutely wild reach

Just like if Marcello said he didn't like effeminate guys, that wouldn't be homophobic because effeminate doesn't equate to being gay, there's plenty of effeminate straight men and masculine gay men.

Yeah i’m with you. But you just KNOW that in the world we live in today, Marcello making comments about not liking feminine guys would be labelled “homophobic” 100%

It depends on if you think Marcello is actually making Misogynistic comments.

I would personally argue that his humour is not very politically correct, but I wouldn't necessarily say that he is Misogynistic.

Unless most of the female Housemates liking him are wrong, and Ali is correct?

I would say they are misogynistic comments and I don’t think that’s really up for debate. (The most egregious example imo is the way he treated Sarah during the roast chicken debacle - both the ‘you’re a vegan and your PH levels are probably off’ comment and the way he shooed her away to dismiss her. Oh and ‘you smell like period and tea bags.’ Often when he’s irritated by a female housemate he resorts to sexist comments.)

These things are complex. I think often people think that prejudice isn’t there unless someone’s actively saying **** like ‘men are superior to women’ or ‘homosexuality is wrong’, but it can be - and usually is - more subtle than that. We all grow up internalising prejudice and have internal biases (unless we unlearn them either purposefully or by being exposed to different ideas). That doesn’t mean female housemates can’t like him. I often like him and find him entertaining. I can still acknowledge that he makes misogynistic comments sometimes. I imagine if he is making homophobic comments it’s probably in like with his sexist comments - nothing absolutely god awful, but still coming from a homophobic place. He strikes me as someone who means well but has a lot of sexism he needs to unlearn.

Basically, if you arent Quentin Crisp Dean thinks you are a toxic straight hyper-masculine male.

I can see what you're saying, and I agree with you on some of your points tbf.

Especially the Chicken thing with Sarah, I know that I keep batting for Sarah, but Marcello did annoy me with his "it's just banter" line as it screamed douchebag to me in that moment.

Dean is the type to make snap judgements of others, whilst behaving exactly like the narrow minded bigot he claims to not like on the outside world. He's a toxic hateful
hypocrite .

And i'm glad Danny especially called him out for his BS on L&L . A guy who's masculine is not automatically a negative thing. Marcello summed Dean & Ali up to a tea in the DR . Marcello just keeps coming up as the more intelligent bigger person to me , every time.

Beso 02-11-2024 08:13 AM

Just watched the interview..

Dont know what all the fuss is about..

But, yeah... Dean sees everyone who isn't a screaming queen to be 'toxic' and 'homophobic'.

There is no way the left leaning ultra progressive BB production team allowed homophobia to fly in there. Marcello would have been ejected just like Emma was once for saying the N word that time.

It's just Dean lashing out.

this

Good post. We do know Marcello has made some offensive comments but we also know that Dean is wildly judgemental, sees the worst in people and infers major negative things from mild actions.

If Marcello had said anything seriously homophobic it would be very difficult to cover it up and other housemates will mention it. It will all come out in the wash either way.

Cal. 02-11-2024 10:28 AM

The most offensive thing I found about that interview wasn’t even this it was just how shite AJ & Will are at their jobs. Sack ‘em!

Vicky. 02-11-2024 10:37 AM

Wonder what he apparently said

Ammi 02-11-2024 11:43 AM

…it’s strange that if he had made comments that it’s never been mentioned in the nominations as a reason…or indeed that it feels as though he hasn’t been nominated that much…

He probably said " Do you want some food I cooked Dean"

And Dean probably said " yea mate " ,then he twisted it in his mind to be homophobic .

Dean goes out of his way to be offended, obviously I've used a silly example with cooking food ....but I wouldn't be surprised if it's something as mundane and silly as that. He even admitted to lying about Marcello manipulating with his cooking, so how credible is any of his words ?.

He probably wishes Marcello was worse than he is ,so then he can be like " see I told you " . I think he gets satisfaction at people's downfall .

AnnieK 02-11-2024 12:04 PM

I wouldn't like to dismiss Dean if he feels aggrieved, it does at least need looking into if he feels like something was said.

However, considering the number of cameras, I would hope that anything homophonic, racist etc would be picked up by producers and dealt with quickly so I doubt anything was that could really be construed as homophonic was said.

Sarah's comments in the Dr about Marcello , is clearly the real Marcello. She had nothing but nice positive things to say about him. Their friendship is so genuine and wholesome.

If he got evicted,I think it would have really upset her. She even said she has a similar sense of humour to him,and how she's the closest to him out of the 4 up for eviction . Even when they've argued...look how quickly they've resolved it.

Marcello seems like an easy target to paint as the 'bad guy' , which of course vile Dean has latched onto . He was even trying to blame Marcello for the mean comments about Sarah's shoes, even AJ was like..."but hang on you chose to say it in the blood task" ,then he said " yeah" :bored: . Truly Pathetic .

Marcello & Sarah can joke around ,and still be friends. Dean makes personal digs and nasty attacks and has zero remorse . He felt validated in his delusional head...when the audience applauded him on L & L ,he genuinely thinks he's in the right. He needs to remind himself why he got evicted, he needs a wake up call. Because his interview is the worst so far this year.
