Bad employer.

The path to progression - despite what some people would have you believe - is not hard work. "Hard workers" get stuck doing the role that they're doing efficiently... because they're doing it efficiently. The key to progression is smart work, good ideas, and demonstrating a valuable understanding of the role and organisation. If you have those, and you're not being given the opportunity to show it, get out ASAP.

My xmas advice. Value and back yourself and good things will happen.

Thanks QB for the advice. I’m sad how things have panned out, I knew it would eventually happen but there are a few people there with huge egos (especially the higher up’s) and all it’s doing is just dragging the company down and causing a poor morale amongst the staff. They’ve recently held a consultation process in another department and they asked the people at risk in this department to come up with suggestions as to how to improve things. Some people made suggestions and put them forward but the people in charge weren’t bothered at all as they heard them out but still chose to go their own way instead.

I agree tbh I think I’ve reached my limit here in terms of progression and I think the only reason why I’m going to apply for the job that they’re offering is so it can bide me a bit of time to look elsewhere. What you mentioned about hard workers getting stuck in a role because they’re efficient is exactly how I feel atm and I think I’m worth more than that. I want to better myself and actually do job that I can be a bit proud of, at this firm I can’t really see that happening.

Yh I’ve tried to take it out of my mind for the time being. I’ve been looking after my nephew today, he’s really excited for Christmas which is nice to see and it’s kinda been a bit of a release valve as him being so excited has taken my mind off work.

Thank you Ammi and everyone else for their advice, hope everyone has a good Christmas

…that’s the thing, isn’t it…it’s good to be around those child eyes that only see the magic and none of the worries because that helps to balance and preserve some of that positive spirit in us as well …and that’s so important because what we feel and absorb…?…also transfers in positive vibes to things like job seeking and interviews etc……

So Christmas Eve is nearly over.

I hope it's been at least ok for you all, and hopefully better than ok. Xx

I usually enjoy the build up and then the period AFTER Christmas Day which is generally a very stressful time for just about everyone !!

Imho

Whatever you do, don’t listen to Crimson Dynamo.

Whatever you do, mods, let’s not bother going down the infraction route today. It’s Christmas. Christmas Day. Go and spend it with your families instead of implicitly defending a bigoted wind-up merchant.

So far soo good

I have had my once daily caffeine fix so we shall see what the day will bring !

I’ve mentioned elsewhere that I actually prefer the build up to Christmas and the time afterwards…. Christmas Day can be quite stressful on so many ways

My favourite period is Boxing Day.

Especially if we can kick Burton Albion's butt on the Football.

Hi guys, To be honest I think this time of year can be so difficult for a lot of people, and admittedly I'm finding it very difficult, I'm unhappy with my situation in life at the moment and there seems to be this image of christmas where we all have to be happy and are having such a good time and doing well in our lives and it's just so far from reality, Also just reaching out to anyone on here who is feeling the same. I'm obviously not a qualified mental health professional but sometimes a listening ear can be so important as well

Ahhh, don't believe everything you read/see. Everyone's got their issues. You only see the happy sides normally, the pictures of family together, opening of presents, etc etc.

You're in control of your own destiny
Set yourself a plan for the new year

Don't be too hard on yourself.

I have been feeling good today - even optimistic .

Only thing thats annoyed me over Christmas had been seeing clips of Charlie boy and Chlamydia on telly and reading about the fix hunting ban

Crimson Dynamo 26-12-2024 04:29 PM

these bloody fixes must be cintrolled!
