Or cheaper knock-offs from eBay :hehe:.

…Primary school and the older years so definitely ones that would have applied……we’ve had 99 crazes through my time there but JoJo bows ain’t one of them…mind you in my defence I have had long periods away from the children/school with health stuff also…

The bottom line I guess is that there are a TON of people that are insanely famous in this age of global internet media that individuals not of certain demographics may have missed.

I only know her from Dance Moms really. I also spend too much time online and find her current effort to do a Miley rebranding amazingly entertaining in all it's car crash glory. But, I never watched any of her cartoons or TV shows and it's not like I have followed her music or bought a bow, so I do get why some in the UK who might engage with British traditional media more might not know her.

But I do think that we should accept that a person can be famous and a celeb with us personally not knowing them from mainstream stuff here in the UK. It's a big ole world out there.

I wonder how many have heard of Maddie Ziegler?

The thing is, that's a position that a LOT of people legitimately hold. It's a bit nuts.

…yeah, that is true…also ‘if I don’t like them, they’re not famous’ is probably also a variation on that…that though has been how it’s been since the beginning in that we’ve had the ‘reality TV celebrities aren’t real celebrities…’…when reality TV has been a growing thing for many years and created much fame for its stars…and now that’s all been joined with YouTube and Tik Tok celebrities because these are all different forms of the same thing that creates ‘celebrity’ aren’t they…I admit that I’m a social media ignorant so I have no idea who are big on those platforms …(…which is why I like to be introduced to them on something like BB…)…and the very nature of the platforms that these celebrities dominate…?…would indicate that they would have huge followings…

I think a lot of a certain age are still stuck in a 90s very provincial way of perceiving fame... If they aren't on the front page of the Mirror or in a current UK TV show then here inevitably comes the 'Celeb?? Who even are they?'

…this is what I love about BB and why old school fans like me will fight to the death to try to keep some of that essence of blending the old with they new …those faces we do know more with the new ones that are being introduced to us and how those blends themselves would never be aware of each other’s celebrity if it wasn’t for a show like this where they can compare their different paths to celebrity…it’s so much a good point you’ve made of why I love the show so much……

Spoiler:

…you’re one of the forum BB season posters that I enjoy most as whether I agree or not always, you always reason your thoughts so well …but I’m just trying to keep you grounded so that we can keep you here and so that you don’t think that you’re ready for Reddit or Digital Spy forum yet and leave us…

:blush2::love:

Honestly, Reddit is an echo chamber **** show... I never go there for anything outside hobby stuff. My general views on BB in the sub there would have me at -100 in an hour lol

…Reddit is quite good for the gossip on there, though…I mean, I can’t say that I don’t browse from time to time in a self harming type way…..you know it’s bad but, goddamn it’s a riveting read…

Just googled her music out of curiosity and the first song i see was Karma on youtube. Anyway, see pic, her popularity is obviously overinflated. 500k subscribers isn't that much for someone supposedly so popular. The dislikes don't bode well either.

I actually think she seems alright in the house though.

MTVN 09-04-2025 06:28 PM

I was working for a shop which sold her books back in like 2016/17 and they were massive sellers but I've hardly heard much of her since then. I'm intrigued to see how she is now because it's not easy to cope with that level of fame when you're so young.

I can accept that she's very famous but I don't think she's the type of celebrity who does well in CBB. There's often a strong amount of nostalgia in this show and the celebs who do well are people who were massive back in the day and we get to see a new side of them here or people love a redemption arc for celebs who had a bit of controversy. Also it's still a British show so most viewers will have that bias towards UK names

No, the dancer that was in Sia's MVs. She was a Dance Moms kid as well.

You are right, that's generally very true, but then there's always Chantelle...

That was my reasoning

Oh I just watched this... I saw the witchy photo and immediately thought oh she is channeling Miley Cyrus. I can see that really being her thing now with this commentary. Pulling bad girl in 202x is not going to be that easy, though. There's been too many bad outrageous insert things of recent that people are kinda adjusted to wild takes and wild personas. But what's weird is her dress style emulates Hannah Montana a little bit in her appearance on BB so far. She was working for Nickelodeon so her and Miley both worked up from within the same child star to adult star pipeline. (different networks but same field)

Though I notice of recent we have regressed to where "bad girl" means faux innocence hiding a big feminist energy yee haw... it's the kind of thing that is too taxing just trying to give a sh**, honestly. I don't really want her to be that predictable because I do find her potentially very interesting... but I don't know whether to think she will or will not be like that (predictable).
