Yes i hope so. He's very old fashioned in mentality, he probably doesn't understand it.
But I don't think he would want to upset someone.

It’s a weird flex to be downplaying it. We all know why though.

BBC rules have always defined unacceptable behaviour to include:

Behaving in a way that could cause serious offence to either their fellow Housemates or members of the viewing public (including serious offence based on the grounds of age, disability, gender, race, religion, beliefs or sexual orientation).

Anyway, he clearly broke the rules. The other housemates knew that immediately. The warning was inevitable. Will he take heed or like Biggins just carry on and get himself removed via the backdoor.

The same excuse all of the time.

He hasn’t been in a coma for the last 30yrs and woke up today. The only way that excuse would make sense and be excusable. Attitudes have changed. He was there when they did.

He did wrong and he apologized. That's the way I see it.

Glenn. 09-04-2025 07:48 PM

You excused his behaviour also.

Glad he apologised.

Attitudes on TV have changed. TV is not the real world.

We had very little words back in the day that described all these new sexualities weve to learn, and also all these new mental illnesses.

Unless he was being antagonistic and deliberate he's just using words he is used to.

Something that's funny though..you can't call a woman a fag hag anymore. Not because you could be insulting the woman, but because it's insulting a man.

Crazy times, people should be forgiven for getting things wrong sometimes.

The sexual innuendos though...nah. That's a bit much at his age.

Still the same excuse. You can’t use the excuse of they’re old fashioned. No. They lived it the same as everyone else.

Do you know what a fag hag is?
It’s very much used in society by the people who reclaimed it from the heterosexual morons who used it as a slur.

Well not for you in this instance because you’re in the wrong a tad.

Great, you admitted he was in the wrong, but you excused the behaviour.

It’s giving, “I’m not homophobic…but…”

I said he did wrong. I'm not getting involved in any name calling.

Seriously, you are talking nonsense. If you have had decades of certain behaviour being fine and then it's not, it's very difficult to change that mindset if not impossible. Most people have a filter that stops them saying things, but as you get older, that filter disappears. Thats a fact

If people haven’t adjusted to the changing times and norms then they don’t want to. Simple as.

Beso 09-04-2025 08:06 PM

Wasn't it the girls and their gay friends who coined the phrase originally. Ie, what the gay guy would jokingly call all the girls?

That was my understanding of it in the late 80s early 90s.

No because a fag hag is a heterosexual female who spends a lot of time with gay men.

Are you a heterosexual female?

That's exactly what I meant. Very well put :clap1:

MTVN 09-04-2025 08:16 PM

Wow all three of those comments are pretty bad but particularly the last one. Would definitely be kicked out in the civilian series

MTVN 09-04-2025 08:20 PM

Bear in mind that Americans just don't use 'fag' for cigarettes so that's pretty deliberate
