My son was having a right moan about this earlier, I just wanted a nice walk in the forest with the dog and he spent the whole hour regaling me how bad a policy it is...he made some decent points tbf

Dating and hookup apps I definitely understand having things in place to protect everyone involved from kids that shouldn’t be on there, but making fully grown adults jump through hoops that erode personal privacy to access things we’re legally allowed to choose to see is frankly, ridiculous

It feels like a step back kind of

My brain is registering this scene as a period classic... discussing the modern changes, aka age regulations and the viewing of porn (impacting all important male rights) while taking a casual stroll around the lake with top hats... I could see that being a very civil debate somehow without getting too OOT.

Now to be fair, sending every Westerner's watch history to the enemy in the Middle East would be comparable to a nuke.

When their leaders are filmed raging at the West saying they wished us total destruction, I feel like they'd just been casually scrolling through X and saw a whole lot of something they wanted to unsee and that was their immediate reaction.

Jokes aside... They'd have to find a link somewhere on the "good internet" in most cases to get to anything problematic. I'd be more weary of hanging around random Discords... there's a reason admin err on the side of caution and will nuke entire servers (including permanuking accounts using them) rather than try to figure out who "the good ones" actually are.

You can use an anonymous browser though if you need to self-report your recent stint in Antifa to the police and to the CIA. I personally advocate this use case. Please use this function judiciously to report your terrorismings

I'm Antifa and proud.:dance::joker:

Seriously though I do agree with you about Discord.

I hear so many bad stories about that place, I get that not every Discord server is like that tbf, but it's clear that the site has a lot of problems in terms of keeping itself clean from the Dark Web.

I personally think that we have to watch out for what the Government targets next.

Will it be violent Entertainment Media? Who knows.

Either way, it doesn't look good on Starmer.

this was all started by the tories and it is nothing new. It is completely innefective though because you can just vpn from a country that doesnt enforce age checks

…yep, I think for many years now we’ve all felt totally safe and uncompromising in the careful hands of our governments both past and present…

Both major parties are basically the Uni-Party, there's no point in giving either the benefit of the doubt on behalf of the other.

Kids as young as 8 have been found to be sending naked pictures of themselves
The internet and access to it , adults allowing kids access and smart phones
Clothes being made for kids in adult form parents allowing kids to wear These clothes
Parents not actually being parents and guiding kids , kids don’t look like kids anymore by this I’m developing faster
These are all factors in my opinion

Yes, that is a separate problem.

Of course that’s bad but parents shouldn’t be giveing them smart phones to take the pictures on or they need to see what’s on the phone. They should be giving phones with just phone numbers and address books in them

bots 28-07-2025 02:23 PM

the problem is not with the technology, it's society itself that has the problem. You can never take things that were freely available in society even to kids and expect that to resolve the underlying issue.

It must be harder to get into pornhub, than it is the UK these days.

Parents won't let kids play freely outside of their homes but they'll give them unfettered access to the internet. Never understood that.

Virtual private network (VPN) apps have become the most downloaded on Apple's App Store in the UK after sites such as PornHub, Reddit and X began requiring age verification of users on Friday.

VPNs can disguise your location online - allowing you to use the internet as though you are in another country.

It means that people are likely using them to bypass requirements of the Online Safety Act, which mandated platforms with certain adult content to start checking the age of users.

As of Monday morning, half of the top ten free apps in Apple's app download charts in the UK appeared to be for VPN services.

And one app maker told the BBC it had seen an 1,800% spike in downloads.

They blocked it completely here and it was widely reported which is how many learned about the law. They just chose not to comply and closed off access.
