Tonight, in a specially extended live show hosted by Davina McCall, five ‘halfway housemates’ will enter the Big Brother Halfway House, situated adjacent to the Big Brother House. Over the next two days all of the ‘halfway housemates’ will spend time in the Big Brother House and this Monday (30 July) two of them will swap places with existing housemates.

From there on in everyone in the Halfway House will have to do battle in a variety of tasks and difficult choices as they attempt to make their way into or back into the Big Brother House.

The BB housemates will be told about the ‘halfway housemates’ during tonight’s live show.

The ‘halfway housemates’ are:

Name: DAVID
Age: 25
From: Ayr, Scotland
Occupation: Manager for a High Street Store
Status: Single

David refers to himself as an ‘open-minded practicing Pagan’ and passionate about nature. His second love is fashion and his ultimate ambition would be to work as a stylist in London or New York. He likes to vary his look on a day to day basis as describes his style as ‘eclectic and eccentric’.

David says he practises witchcraft and says that he would like to be part of a coven. He works on spells for healing, good luck and love. He says that he is ‘unlucky in love’ and has been single for nearly four years. David is attracted to pagan warrior women and people who are “sexually free.”

He says that he makes friends easily and describes himself as the ‘lynchpin’ amongst his group of friends. David claims that money is his reason for entering Big Brother and wants to win; he doesn’t believe that it’s the taking part that counts.

Age: 27
From: Cardiff
Occupation: Part-time Care Assistant
Status: Single

Shanessa’s dream job would be as a bunny girl at the Playboy mansion or a stylist to the stars. She believes in ghosts and once worked at a place that was haunted. When she was younger Shanessa used to attend church but stopped because she started having hangovers on Sunday mornings. Shanessa has one daughter who she describes as “mini-me.”

She loves meeting new people and is a self confessed flirt who has managed to get most blokes she fancies within weeks. Shanessa once took revenge on an ex-boyfriend by trying to pierce his ears when he was asleep. She is passionate about her image and spends £600 a month on hair extensions.

While in the Big Brother house Shanessa thinks the reason people may nominate her is because ‘they think I’m a slapper or stupid’. Michael Douglas would be her dream man, because he’s distinguished. She says that she wants to give viewers something “different and strange”.

Kara-Louise describes herself as ‘extremely gorgeous and exceedingly bright’ and rates herself 10/10 for attractiveness. If she were to be re-incarnated, Kara-Louise would like to come back as Cleopatra - only if she looked like Elizabeth Taylor. People have said she looks like Mariah Carey “only much fitter,” and her friends would describe as being fun loving and generous.

Kara-Louise was privately educated and has says that when it comes to education, she believes that private schools are better than state schools. She also admits to having an issue with ‘common people’.

She is in her final year at university and says that in five years time she hopes to be working her way up the ladder in PR.

Kara-Louise believes that BB shows you a true reflection of yourself and says that she wants to find love in the Big Brother house.

Jonty is a passionate vegetarian who shares his flat with his collection of 50 teddy bears and stuffed toys. His flat is also filled with history books and Doctor Who DVDs, as well as his collection of old coins and money.

He read Welsh Studies at University, where he set up and ran the Dr Who Society – which he claims became so popular it attracted 10% of the entire university population. Today he’s a member of many societies including the Society of Friends of King Richard III, and is an Associate Member of the Society of Friends of King Charles the Martyr. And as well as speaking Welsh, he also speaks French, German, Yiddish, Hebrew, Albanian and Cornish.

Jonty’s passion is history and his dream job is to be a history presenter on television. He says he rarely gets bored but if he does he just goes through a chronological history-related list in his head. He says he will find it difficult being in the house without his history books but might keep himself amused by playing pranks.

Amy is a glamour model whose aim is to become a television presenter. She has her own horses called Velvet and Arken, and has been horse-riding since the age of eight. However, if she could take anyone or anything into the house it would be her pet dog.

Amy says she has a phobia of failing, and wants to be on Big Brother to make a name for herself - and make a lot of money. She says the worst job she ever did was stacking yoghurts at a supermarket, and that she’s already doing her dream job, working as a model. She is a teetotaller, and if she could be reincarnated, it would be as a boy so she could see the world through their eyes.

She rates herself 10 out of 10 for attractiveness and intelligence, and while she says she has enormous respect for fellow glamour model Jordan, the person she says she would most like to have met is Oscar Wilde.
