LEE 28-11-2003 11:12 AM

That's from 'Got my Feet on the Ground' by 'The Kinks' ROB

:dazzler:

OK, what's this then

The photograph on the dashboard, taken years ago,
Turned around backwards so the windshield shows.
Every streetlight reveals the picture in reverse.
Still, it's so much clearer.
I forgot my shirt at the water's edge.
The moon is low tonight.

Romantic Old Bird 30-11-2003 09:13 AM

One of my fave's Lee - REM :hello::hello:

Nightswimming.

Now I tried not to answer this one because I am going away for a week, but I did anyway.

So if I am right, can I nominate Kaph c to do the next one, cos I only just beat her to the Queen one.........

James 30-11-2003 09:04 PM

, that was one of the few lyrics I should have been able to get. 'Automatic for the People' is one of my favourite albums.

So near and yet so far...

kaphc 02-12-2003 10:41 PM

OK, this one is an old and a new song:

"Children waiting for the day they feel good
Happy birthday – happy birthday
Made to feel the way that every child should
Sit and listen – sit and listen
Went to school and I was very nervous
No one knew me – no one knew me
Hello teacher tell me what’s my lesson
Look right through me – look right through me"

Good luck!

James 02-12-2003 10:54 PM

I know!

Mad World by Tears for Fears, also by Gary Jules in the film Donnie Darko.

And now Alex Parks.

I've been listening Alex's album. Considering I'm not really a fan, it's better than I thought it would be. Pretty good actually.

kaphc 03-12-2003 09:52 AM

Absolutely correct James! I love the version that appears in Donny Darko.

Over to you for the next lyric ...

James 03-12-2003 09:25 PM

Sometimes you're better off dead
There's gun in your hand and it's pointing at your head
You think you're mad, too unstable
Kicking in chairs and knocking down tables
In a restaurant in a West End town
Call the police, there's a madman around
Running down underground to a dive bar
In a West End town

BusyBee 03-12-2003 10:36 PM

I'm normally useless at these, but I think I know this - is it

West End Girls by Pet Shop Boys

James 04-12-2003 01:33 AM

Correct BusyBee.

Your turn now.

BusyBee 04-12-2003 03:22 PM

Right here's my contribution

Here come old flat top he come grooving up slowly
He got joo-joo eyeball he one holy roller
Got to be a joker he do just what he please

He wear no shoeshine he got toe-jam football
He got monkey finger he shoot coca-cola
He say "I know you you know me"
One thing I can tell you is you got to be free

AndyJK 06-12-2003 12:57 PM

Being a huge Beetles fan I know this one. It's Come Together. :wavey:

Here's mine

I don't give a damn
'Bout my reputation
I've never been afraid of any deviation
An' I don't really care
If ya think I'm strange
I ain't gonna change
An' I'm never gonna care
'Bout my bad reputation

Oh no, not me
Oh no, not me

Janette 08-12-2003 12:51 AM

Half Cocked---Bad Reputation

From the wonderful "Shrek"

Did you know they're doing Shrek 2 with john Cleese as Fiona's father?

It's going to be fantastic!

Here's my lyric............

Chance for me to escape from all I know.
Holding back the tears.
There's nothing here has grown.
I've wasted all my tears,
Wasted all those years.
Nothing had the chance to be good

Funny you should mention that Janette, I posted the lyrics after watching Shrek the other day (although it was the featured version by Joan Jett :wavey:). And I think John Cleese will be great as the Dad .

BusyBee 08-12-2003 03:51 PM

Oh Janette you've picked one of my favourites. Its

Holding Back The Years By Simply Red

Janette 08-12-2003 06:16 PM

One of my faves too busybee!

Your turn

BusyBee 08-12-2003 09:57 PM

I'm feeling quite proud of myself I've got 2 of these right now and I'm usually useless.

Anyway next one:

Well, there aint no luck
In these loaded dice
But baby if you give me just one more try
We can pack up our old dreams
And our sad lives
We’ll find a place where the sun still shines

kaphc 09-12-2003 09:43 AM

I know this one! It's Bon Jovi - Always isn't it?

BusyBee 09-12-2003 01:45 PM

Well done Kaph - perfectly correct. Love the new version of this on the new album sounds completely different.

Over to you to test our knowledge.

kaphc 09-12-2003 01:49 PM

This is a classic!

"Last time that we had this conversation
I decided we should be friends
Yeah,
but now we're going round in circles,
tell me will this deja vu never end?"

LEE 09-12-2003 02:31 PM

Hmm, I hope you had your tongue firmly in your cheek there Kaph

Say you'll be There - The Spice Girls

kaphc 09-12-2003 02:53 PM

Correctamundo!!

Was that tongue in cheek? You decide!!

LEE 09-12-2003 03:59 PM

What about this one then..

Yes I think I'm okay
I walked into the door again
Well, if you ask that's what I'll say
And it's not your business anyway
I guess I'd like to be alone
With nothing broken, nothing thrown

kaphc 09-12-2003 04:13 PM

Hey I'm on a roll today!

Isn't that "Luka" by Suzanne Vega?

LEE 09-12-2003 05:20 PM

It is Kaph  Now that is a classic

Your turn again. :spin2:

kaphc 10-12-2003 09:27 AM

Here comes another:

"I was in your arms
Thinking I belonged there
I figured it made sense
Building me a fence
Building me a home
Thinking I'd be strong there
But I was a fool
Playing by the rules"
