DOA4 is probably my favourite Xbox game, Eternal Sonata is amazing!

I've borrowed Assasin's Creed from a friend along with F.E.A.R, both good games. I've also started to play Fable: The Missing Chapters again, Oooh can't wait for the sequel!

Ruth*Star 24-02-2008 04:18 PM

Tom4784 24-02-2008 04:56 PM

Perhaps if they had included a HD DVD player in the FIRST PLACE like they were supposed to? Who is this thick guy and how did he get a job?

Following Toshiba's announcement of the demise of HD-DVD, Microsoft has confirmed it will cease production of its HD-DVD Xbox 360 attachment.

Microsoft said in a statement: "As a result of recent decisions made by Toshiba, Hollywood studios and retailers, Microsoft plans to withdraw from HD-DVD.

“Xbox will no longer manufacture new HD-DVD players for the Xbox 360, but we will continue to provide standard product and warranty support for all Xbox 360 HD-DVD players in the market.

“As we stated earlier, we do not believe this decision will have any material impact on the Xbox 360 platform or our position in the marketplace.

"HD-DVD is one of the several ways we offer a high definition experience to consumers and we will continue to give consumers the choice to enjoy digital distribution of high definition movies and TV shows directly to their living room, along with playback of the DVD movies they already own.”

Microsoft last week said 'no' to the possibility of launching a standalone Blu-ray drive for Xbox 360, but speculation continues to mount that the firm will eventually offer such a device to its next-generation console users.

Chief executive of Microsoft Steve Ballmer has confirmed that his firm is looking at ways to back the HD format Blu-ray.

While Ballmer avoided linking his announcement directly with the Xbox 360, he admitted Microsoft is ready to move on following the demise of HD-DVD.

"We've already been working on, for example, in Windows, device driver support for Blu-ray drives and the like, and I think the world moves on," said Ballmer at the Mix08 conference.

"Toshiba has moved on. We've moved on, and we'll support Blu-ray in ways that make sense."

Recent news of Sony holding talks with Microsoft has led to many industry insiders expecting the US firm to announce an add-on Blu-ray drive for the Xbox 360.

Following Microsoft's Xbox 360 price drop last Friday, industry watcher Chart Track has revealed that sales have surged ahead by some 36%.

But despite the rise, Chart Track added that the jump was much lower than the 260% rise Microsoft enjoyed when it first cut the price of its next-gen console, though it admitted that that rise coincided with the launch of the Xbox 360 Elite system and the acclaimed BioShock game.

“During week 11, Xbox 360 enjoyed a 36% jump on week 10, which is a nice refreshing uplift for the console,” ChartTrack director Dorian Bloch told MCV. “That was just for the Friday and Saturday after the price cut."

“The 260% rise Xbox 360 enjoyed in August last year coincided with the introduction of Elite and BioShock coming onto the market, which obviously gave it a massive boost.”

Discussing the Xbox 360's long-term sales, Bloch added: "We need to wait two or three more weeks to see if the 360 sales surge will carry on. I would predict that it will increase again over the Easter period. It’s a bit of an odd year for the industry – Easter is early, and doesn’t coincide with the end of Q1 – when publishers traditionally release very big games – like it usually does."

Last week also saw sales of the PlayStation 3 rise by 6%.

Microsoft has announced a radical new policy in a bid to crack down on Xbox Live users who are illegally improving their game scores online.

The firm has vowed to name and shame all cheats by marking the offenders' gamercards for all to see.

It will also reset the user's score to zero and prevent them from regaining any previously earned achievements, though they will be allowed to earn new scores thereafter.

According to a report by Eurogamer, the firm will also "place the offender in stocks on the Xbox Live village green and allow other users to throw virtual rotten tomatoes at them".

Tom4784 22-07-2008 07:22 PM

Scarlett. 23-07-2008 03:09 PM

Scarlett. 13-06-2010 11:50 PM

Natal is apparently called Kinect

King Gizzard 13-06-2010 11:54 PM

I'm not one for all these motion movement games - leave that to crappy Wii

Scarlett. 13-06-2010 11:57 PM

Same for me really, I'm hoping the new Silent Hill game doesnt involve them after its defection to the Wii for Shattered Memories

Tom4784 14-06-2010 12:04 PM

If I want motion then I'd play the Wii, and it'd do it a lot better. I don't get how having no controller at all could work well, it could for some but for most typical Xbox games I can't see it working well at all. Motion control is too unprecise to work by itself in most games.

Motion on the Wii only typically works well on the casual games, There's very few serious Wii games that use it or use it well. The only one that springs to mind is Resident Evil 4 that had amazing controls, probably better then the other console versions of RE4. The key is that it should be used sparingly and not relied on totally.

Also no ragging on the Wii when all you've probably played is Wii Sports (if that)
