Wow, you guys have some pretty cool talents! Ice-skating is something I'd love to be good at!!

I think my best talent is probably writing. I've won 4 creative writing competitions, and my short stories have been published twice. :D So I'm pretty excited about my writing - it's what I do to get my ideas down, and it's what I do to express myself. So I'm hoping to do a degree in Creative Writing at University, and it's one of my goals to get a novel published.

I'm also a decent artist - or so I've been told. I beg to differ, though. I mainly do simple sketch and shade sort of things, but I occasionally paint things, as well.

Oh wait i can touch my nose with my tounge lool
if that even counts.

Here's a bit from a clingfilm project I did the other day:

It was a conceptual installation project where I clingfilmed my room.

I reckson somebody should do that, maybe Scampi as a battle of the sexes! And I like your cling film project, its quite unusual, and very inventive. How much cling film did you buy?

I used about 152 meters of clingfilm, which wasn't very expensive, but was a lot. It took about 6 hours to put up, but overall I was very happy with it. I took about 100 pictures overall I think, maybe I'll post some more.

Cling film annoys me in small amounts! Is this for GCSE Art aswell? Because I remember you said in BBO you were doing it.

I do GCSE Art, but this was just a home project. Maybe I'll end up finding a way to use it in school though.

Wow that looks really cool. I really like the way the bin is clingfilmed, i dont know why but its sort of makes me think that time has been frozen!

dupin 21-02-2008 07:26 PM

Thanks.

A lot of people don't really get conceptual/installation art, and just think it's a bit weird that I clingfilmed everything...

Can you explain the whole thing about conceptual art to me, as I dont really know much about it.

Is it like when you can think of a concept behind it, or their is a concept behind it, or their is no concept behind it?

For the record, I'm not actually a conceptual artist, this was just a conceptual art project.

Conceptual art is art where the concept behind it takes precedence over the actually final product. It's used to make a point, or show emotion or thoughts, which really I think is what art should be about.

I agree, I dont really see what so amazing about just portatraits or landscapes, where is the thought's, feelings?

I suppose their are two main types of art, one demonstarting a artistic skill, and the other showing thoughts, feeling and showing a point. I prefer the second.

dupin 21-02-2008 07:36 PM

Exactly, the latter always wins with me.

I think you can do it for GCSE art - I was advised not to due to it being harder to show how you got to it in your pre-final project planning sheets...
