Wendy and I shared a great admiration for the whole H/P thing.

She let me know about her illness back in October, and I was heartbroken.

Perhaps we should remember her great, witty posts, rather than a sad demise?

Can we send flowers or a card? I don't have an address so would rely on others, if possible?

That's awful news. As everybody has said, she was a really witty, intelligent member who will be missed.

A couple of people on this forum: http://malachimad.xmbforums.com/index.php are going to her funeral. The one member is called Jan. So i'm sure if you speak to those two over at that forum then they might be able to let you know about sending flowers, cards etc.

Very saddened by this news. Like many others I enjoyed her posts and followed her stories, it's the end of an era for TiBB.

I didn't know her well, but we did exchange U2Us a few times and I always found her a lovely lady, even if we didn't always see eye to eye in the very early days! She will be sorely missed.

I don't have her way with words, so I'll just say ... RIP ROB.:flowers:

This is such awful news. Wendy was a very lovely person, and as Chris say, she made some lovely, witty posts. A very very sad loss indeed.

Sticks 05-05-2008 06:12 PM

I saw this lorry today, and thought of Wendy and how she used to write the Paul and Helen stories.

Hugo 05-05-2008 07:15 PM

I remember a few of her posts. But never spoke to her directly. It seems she will be dearly missed by those who new her, well it must be because it seems like a whole TiBB reunion in this thread with all the old-school TiBBiers posting, half of them I have never seen. It seems there is more to a forum than just gossip and argument, sometimes there are very special people.

I never saw her on tibb but that is terrible news. I just hope that her family can get through this terrible time.

R.I.P ROB.

I'm sure that ROB would have greatly appreaciated that, looking back at some of her old posts, I realised just how much of a Paul and Helen fan she was.

I had word of Wendy's death from Jan ( Bunty the bold) whilst away this weekend.

I 1st met Wendy through Jan and have many happy memories of our 'girls' activities together as well as many happy nights chatting on MSN.

Anyone who knew Wendy will know how true the sentiments expressed here on TiBB are. The words used to describe her tell exactly how well liked she was and what a HUGE character she was too. She was a loving mother and grandmother and will be missed by all who knew her.

Goodbye old friend. Look down on here and read all the wonderful post written in your honour and of the memories you have left us with. Your talents as a writer will be missed but your friendship and kindness will be missed more.

:flower::angel::flower:

God Bless

Who knows where they are?? I'm sure they too would be very saddened.

Wendy was brilliant to me throughout the whole time we spoke, and welcomed me warmly to the forum in 2002.

I do know that Wendy tried to contact Lee when she became ill. James had given me a possible link to her but for whatever reason Lesley never replied.

Mrluvaluva 07-05-2008 09:29 PM

I have just heard about this. My thoughts go out to her family and although I did not know Wendy very well, she was a well established member of the forum, and one I did like very much. She will be missed.

Sticks 09-05-2008 06:59 AM

I understand that today is the funeral, which I am told is a private family affiar.

I suppose after this we will probably need to move on.

I was looking for a poem, and as "Stop all the clocks" has been done

I picked this

Quote:

Remember
Christina G. Rossetti 1830-94

Remember me when I am gone away,
Gone far away into the silent land;
When you can no more hold me by the hand,
Nor I half turn to go yet turning stay.
Remember me when no more day by day
You tell me of our future that you planned:
Only remember me; you understand
It will be late to counsel then or pray.
Yet if you should forget me for a while
And afterwards remember, do not grieve:
For if the darkness and corruption leave
A vestige of the thoughts that once I had,
Better by far you should forget and smile
Than that you should remember and be sad.

Good bye farewell, Adiue Mon Amis

Mrluvaluva 09-05-2008 04:18 PM

Nice poem Sticks.

Shirley (Boris) and I are just back from Wendy's funeral and what an 'event' it was. The church was packed with friends, family and all her colleagues from the various hospitals she'd worked in.

Her family had arranged that all the music she loved was playing as we went into the lovely old church she knew well. Vincent was played and Fields of Gold, two songs we both loved.

Her coffin was made of wicker and covered in pink bows and flowers, all very ecological and very, very, Wendy.

We all went up to the front of the church and lit candles in her memory and for all the people we'd lost but the emphasis was very much on thanksgiving for her life and the lives she'd touched.

Her two sons gave a fantastic eulogy. A joint effort, very poignant in parts but also very funny. They have certainly inherited her sense of humour.

We left the church to the playing of Coldplay's 'Fix You'. Very appropriate for a woman who had spent her whole working life trying to fix everyone whom she came into contact with.

It was a sad but uplifting day.

Bye bye, Floss old bean. R.I.P.

Love Bunty xx

Jan has said it all in her report of the day.

It was a WONDERFUL thanksgiving service , full of the wit and charm that Wendy herself would have enjoyed so much; but also a day full of emotion.

It was a privelige to know Wendy and also to be there to share that final day with her family and friends.

Love to you all.

Goodbye Wendy, wish we could have 'fixed' you too.
