This thread was based on a memo that was issued by London Borough of Tower Hamlets, which Muslims in other parties on the council were against as well.

I actually like to have good discussions at my Halal fish and chip shop with the proprietor there, a devout muslim, and he has even given me a copy of the Koran which has pride of place in my library. Hardly Islamophobic.

As for other races, I have been a member of a black afro-carribean church in my time, and our currant one has a number of nationalities. I have even entertained people in my flat from different parts of the world. Hardly the actions of a card carrying member of the BNP.

The councillors did not vote for what was in the memo, it was in essence a dictat, which implied that non-muslims were to be told to observe a muslim fast. Even our resident Muslim proponent agrees that this fast should not be imposed on non muslims. Coupled with this, at work we were given instructions about "Ramadan" ettiquete which lead one to wonder if certain powers were expecting non-muslims to do what even Muslims were saying is wrong.

The PC industry in it's new cloak of Diversity Awareness has taken on Stalinesque powers, and got a lot of people anxious that they might be stomped on for the slightest infraction of rule of the PC lobby.
