Chav, Chava or Charva is a slang derogatory term applied to certain young people in the United Kingdom. The stereotypical image of a chav is a white aggressive teen or young adult, of working class background, who wears branded sports and casual clothing (baseball caps are also common) who often fights and engages in petty criminality and are often assumed to be unemployed or in a low paid job

1. Coolio isn't a young person.
2. He is not an aggressive teen or young adult.
3. He doesn't wear branded sports clothes or casual clothing.
4. He doesn't commit petty crimes.
5. He doesn't have a low paid job.

Coolio is no chav.
I think you should all look at this before putting finger to button now

I mean what gangsters are z listers that go on uk gameshows? LOL wearing glitter on his face and a toy car LOL

CHAV
The only person who called him a gangsta is the person who posted the topic, I know that he isn't because he was talking about it on the live feed about a week ago. Coolio is not a gangsta or a chav, he is an idol to every male.

30stone 15-01-2009 10:18 PM

Why is he an idol? and to Every male... is a bit much... i wouldnt want to be anything like him...

What would you call him?

like fingers said looks and dresses like one and more. i dont do anything to be called an emo... there is a reason for calling him a chav..
Well he wears slightly different clothing to us yeah..
but its not chavy its like American clothing th clothing hes been brought up in
Chavs are unsucesfull people is he unsucesfull ? No
You havent done nothing to be called Emo but i could make stuff up to make you sound Emo just like you all did to poor defensless unchavvy Coolio

30stone 15-01-2009 10:20 PM

Lol lets just say hes more of a chav than i am an emo.

WATERS 15-01-2009 10:21 PM

Coolio is not a gangster
he was involved in gangs but not a gangster
gangster rapper but not a gangster
how many more times does this need saying hes not a gangster
If he was he would not be on Big Brother or famous for that matter

Yeah, if he was british and a young person and wore silly trakies

Tom4784 15-01-2009 10:24 PM

Reasons for Coolio being a Chav:

1. Thuggish, intimidating behavior.
2. Obsession with guns, violence and gangsters
3. He's a rapper....they're ALL chavs.
4. It's american clothing sure, but if someone brittish wore it they would be called chavvy.

He's not exactly an average burberry chav but he's behavior and mannuerisms are pretty much the same as what you'd expect from a stereotypical Chav.

WATERS 15-01-2009 10:25 PM

I'm offering my OPINION of why I think he's a chav.

O P I N I O N

It's a good word you should look it up some time.

30stone 15-01-2009 10:29 PM

I agree with dezzy...

WATERS 15-01-2009 10:30 PM

Wrong again, Chico. If you class all rappers as chavs then you must be very very stupid, because clearly they aren't. Just because people have been brought up on the streets and have a violent past does not mean that they are a chav (which is the most annoying word ever!!) or a gangster for that matter. Would a chav were these clothes:

No! Are they the stereotypical chav clothes? No!

A chav is more then the clothes on their backs. Somebody who could be classed as an emo can easily put on a tracksuit but does that make them a chav? No it doesn't. It's about BEHAVIOR and he behaves like a chav would.

I'll take back that Rapper comment since it's not true but ALL gangster Rappers are chavvy. Talking about gangsters, crime and guns liek that to me is chavvy.

I accept you're opinion as to why he isn't why is it so hard to accept mine?

Gangster rappers act like gangsters, not chavs. And it isn't because they want to, it is because they HAVE to in order to be successful in their style of music. And their record labels have a lot to do with it too.

And the way Coolio is acting in the house isn't neccesarily how he really is, he is acting like that so that he can try and keep to his gangster image- which he has said himself.

I've accepted your opinion too, but I have to try and change it.

I accept you're opinion but I still think the same. I think it's like shouting at a brick wall on both sides of this argument so how about we agree to live and let live and move on from this?
