Lol you playing the "racist card"?..

Oh no white british people must be "racist" if they want jobs in the UK!!

The Italian workers are here legaly through normal EU laws... But did the company overlook the british workers? If so then that is illegal.

The wildcat stikes are against the companies, not against the european workers. Plus many feel let down by the government, Gordon Brown did say "British jobs for British workers"... Read between the lines and he means that is the long term goal.

I think the current climate has made things worse due to many people being laid off work and seeing workers from overseas being given jobs will heat things up... Few years ago nobody would give a fk but the global downturn has changed that.

It is in our intrest to have workers from overseas here as we also have many british workers overseas... Its just a bitter pill the strikers will have to swallow but many feel let down.
yeah she didn't play the racist card. That's you seeing the world through your "iz it cuz I'm white" glasses.
So you don't agree with my post? If not then what are your views?

But we ain't in the Euro.
The UK public would vote no to the Euro - which is why Brown does not give us a Vote.

We can trade with Europe
but we should get out of it
since all Euro laws work against us when it is Workers.

You will not Find a UK crew
in Europe like what Total are doing.
They would not allow it.

As Andyman points out
this is not a Level playing field with Corrupt Europe.
It was on the news today, (as I might have guessed) that 2000 British workers are overseas working on Italian oil refineries! Hmmmm No you wouldnt find a UK crew doing anything like that in Europe....not to mention all the security firms we have over in Iraq, Afghanistan....

arista 07-02-2009 01:23 PM

They are all over the place
working.

That Total contract
is nothing like all the overseas workers.

As for Iraq
they should get a medal
if they get out alive.

What a Nit picker you are.

True, point i made in another post, to ban european workers would be illegal and would do alot of damage, we have plenty of british workers overseas that gives british companies the chance to expand here and overseas...
The strikes was more out of panic due to many thinking their jobs was on the line, but that is not the case. The company that employed the italian workers did not act illegaly unless they have a practice of overlooking local workers, which they dont..

The ability of workers to flow from one country to another is fine under normal conditions of economic soundnesss. However when coutries are in a recession then to allow workers jobs to be filled by workers from other countries is asking for mass unrest amidst the population of all countries suffering high unemployment.

Upholding the EU law principle at times like this may well have major civil unrest impications that make the EU law a demon as opposed to a blessing...

Analogy:: If a ship is sinking and you have a life boat with a capacity of 12 and 24 people need rescuing half are none family the other family who do you give preference too!!!!Family or strangers.......Human nature I think would insist you save family first as heart breaking as it would be to allow other to fend for themselves.

My opinion is that in times of major troube then each government of each country has a duty to it's own citizens first......That may be called protectionism but some would say it is about survival.

The EU law as it stands at present is seriously "flawed" and should be adapted differently for times of recession......Otherwise the cost of civil unrest and strikes could be greater than the benefits of worker interactions......

I dont mind foreign workers, but our english workers over seas arent being hired because they are willing to get paid less. Thats the reason people from our country are getting no jobs, because foreign people will work cheaper, and when we DO get the jobs, we get paid the minimum because thats what foreign people would have.

All i know is ive been looking for a job for about 6 months and can't.

It's not good.

arista 07-02-2009 05:49 PM

Well America is trying to do Protectionism
they are saying Buy American.

But I guess that must be limited to a few products.

And the Euro Law
needs changing.

Having Brown in power
build debt on debt
will never work.
