As I've already said, they're quoting the person in charge of bb at C4 and she has told me these were indeed her comments (see here).

Sorry, but are you incapable of reading? These were her comments:

Quote:

“We’re contracted to do another Big Brother after this one.

“It’s a shame, because I would have liked to end on the tenth anniversary of the series, but there will be a Big Brother 11 too.”
That quote implies that BB will be axed after BB11. Her email to you says it's too early for contract negotiations to begin.

Tom 26-03-2009 06:37 PM

So it hasn't been axed, just no decision whether it will be continued? Oh ok then. Probably won't be continued, oh well.

Brad* 26-03-2009 06:42 PM

I think that ITV or Channel Five will take it on after the series in 2010 (BB11). The show still has 3 or 4 million viewers and would be a fantastic edition to Channel Five especially. Anyway, I will enjoy the next few series of BB and wait until nearer the time until I care about what's happening with the show.

I was referring to the fact that they weren't made up comments, not that BB10 will definitely be axed..?

They were made up comments though. Angela Jain told you that she told the Sun that the contract runs out next year and it's too early for negotiations beyond that.

The Sun claimed that it won't be renewed after next year and that she wishes BB10 could be the last.

andyman 26-03-2009 11:39 PM

Fantastic! Thats two BB's at least then on Channel 4! Still a good chance that BB will continue after 2010 on Channel 4..

Just dump CBB.

Take 'Lost' for example, Season 1 great, season 2 good, season 3 & 4 pointless,

Get's an end date. (between 4th & 5th season)

Season 5 great again!!:shrug:::

Lost got its end date halfway through Season 3, so there must be some relevance in S3+4

I'm on about what they quoted her saying, word for word, in speech marks, not the sun's claims inbetween that which are obviously going to exaggerate / twist what she said.

In which case I've misunderstood you, sorry.

But you should change the thread title since it's not confirmed that BB has been axed.

Since she'd have liked BB10 to be the last, and is only doing BB11 because of contractual obligations, I think short of a massive turn around for the show in viewing figures (which with more of the budget on Davina and George back presenting BBLB, isn't likely to happen), we can safely assume that BB11 is indeed the last.

andyman 27-03-2009 10:33 PM

Last on Channel 4 maybe, does not mean the death of BBUK!
If Channel 4 don't want it then fek em, another network will bid for it..

andyman 27-03-2009 10:36 PM

The format of Big Brother works, it will always pull in viewers! What has to change is the minds behind it... The thinkers, the movers, the shakers, the aint rockin it anymore!

...she didn't say that she wanted BB10 to be the last, or that they're only doing BB11 because of contractual obligations?

She told you:

Quote:

As I explained to the Sun, our contractual obligation runs until the end of the next year so it is too early for negotiations beyond that.
The Sun ran the story, saying that she wished BB10 could be the last but the contract prevented it. Her email to you explains that she told The Sun that it's only too early for negotiations to begin.

Not to mention the fact that, if it was definitely the case that BB11 was going to be the last, it'd have been in/on a heck of a lot more papers/websites than The Sun by now. They would most definitely have issued a press release.

As much as I agree with everyone else that BB11 is highly likely to be the last, there is no concrete proof it will at the moment.

user12975 27-03-2009 10:53 PM

who cares mun, if its good ppl will watch it, if they flunk it and its ****, then unlucky and it prb wont be worth carrying it on...

bananarama 29-03-2009 01:01 PM

If BB11 does turn out to be the last I do not think it will appear any where else it will be gone for good....

The format has now been corrupted and abused by too many sources.......ie..The betting industry and viewers voting to win bets rather than in the interest of the program run......Abusive responces from the public with yob type booing and vulgarities in programs like BBBM........

The show has been dumbed down to encourage children to watch and all the imature results that follow with voting patterns........The above is the reason the format has been destroyed to the point no other company with half a brain cell would touch it with a 20 light year barge pole......

TomRocksUrSocks 29-03-2009 03:40 PM

Nah.

If it does go from Channel 4, it'll be picked up somewhere else. I read somewhere apparently Sky really want it and ITV has expressed interest to Endemol or something like that.

andybigbro 29-03-2009 05:12 PM

Nooo

Glenn. 30-03-2009 09:52 AM

I just hope ITV doesnt get it:sad:
They will ruin it like they did Love Island:yuk:
If it was to go to another channel I would rather Sky One get it:thumbs:

bananarama 01-04-2009 04:48 PM

If it did go to Sky or whatever as after all maddness is well embedded in Britain....It would inevitably be ruined by cost cutting and inexperience......After all its pretty much ruined now by a company that has had years of experience with it.........

If a company that takes it on didn't ruin by any miracle then the public would continue to ruin it with their sabotage voting and betting habits......

Depends whether channel 4 have it in their contracts that Endemol can't sell it to anyone else for a period of time. It's usually the case with big shows (well, big show when this was signed), especially flagship ones.
