Yeah and all politicians and lawyers always tell the truth.

It also gives the US time to scour both their laws and ours and put together a case for the UK to extradite him directly to the US over Sweden, we do have an expedited extradition treaty with the US, which they will probably use to claim him.

The US UK Treaty is very one sided in their favour and allows them to apply for extradition to the US for crimes against US Law even though they were committed elsewhere, and the level of proof for them to apply is significantly lower than we would need to apply for them to extradite someone in the US to us.

They have a minimum of just under a week to sort something out either with us or the Swedes. He isnt going anywhere which will please the Yanks as they were panicking that he may skip to a country without an extradition treaty with them should they decide to prosecute.

One of the most revealing releases and shows of US arrogance towards other nations so far for me.

The US kidnap an innocent German citizen whose name just happens to be the same as a wanted terrorist, he is subject to rendition to the middle east where he is tortured and sodomized by his torturers and then eventually - when the US finally work out that he is not the man they want - he is dumped by the roadside in Albania.

The US government then appies political pressure to the German government not to arrest the CIA operatives responsible for this crime and even a country as rich and powerful as Germany bows down and does nothing to protect its citizens.

This case – regarding Khaled El Masari is well known in Germany – read about it here.

http://www.aclu.org/national-securit...-and-rendition

Given how the US government arranges the torture of innocent people and then pressures the German government to do nothing to the prepetrators, anyone who thinks the arrest and detention of Julian Assange for "holding a person down forcefully with his arms" and failing to use a condom during consensual intercourse is not politically motivated is a naive fool.

I hope the Swedish people hold their government to account. Try Assagne on the charges in Sweden by all means, but do not allow his extradition to America where he will become a political prisoner subject to torture and possibly even execution.

does not want this info public.

There is no evidence for this case at all. You do know that arabs have been trained to LIE and fabricate stories as propaganda against the US, right?

Terrorists learn how to exagerate stories and make themselves into victims as a form of propaganda. It's well known. Just like they know to hide behind women and children, so when they are attacked, they use them as human shields, so that it makes America look bad. They want as many civilian casualties as possible.

You are incredibly naive if you believe the word of an arab over the word of an American.

No I think it is you who are deluded, did you read the link posted?

Are you saying the document is not from the person stated about this case?

Quote:

The document, a 2007 cable from the U.S. Embassy in Berlin, describes a meeting during which the then-deputy chief of the U.S. mission to Germany, John M. Koenig, urged German officials to "weigh carefully at every step of the way the implications for relations with the U.S." of issuing international arrest warrants in the El-Masri case
Rendition type flights have been used for over 30 years. Prior to persons of Middle Eastern origin, it used to be Latin Americans who copped a free ride on CIA airlines.

Yea, against terrorists who harmed national interests. What's wrong with that?

Just cause there isn't enuf evidence to convict them in a court of law, doesn't mean they are innocent. That's all i'm saying. the terrorists are well trained about our justice system, and know how to manipulate it to their advantage.

Errr no the Central and South American citizens that flew with your delightful intelligence chappies included left wing politicians, political activists and some criminals including Drug Lords etc.

Hardly out to blow up the White House. But hey they really did threaten Moms Apple Pie and the American way of life eh?

The american response is frankly embarrassing and shameful and the fact that some try and defend it is a sign of how institutionalised they have become its almost like they accept being kept almost like pets or children and told what is good for them.

The releases are hardly earth shattering so far we all knew how overbearing, deceptive, controlling and arrogant the american goverment were.

The big difference now is they cant pretend otherwise anymore they were frankly stupid to think they could rule the world and make no mistake thats the illusion that they have been under for many years now.

Piss off america you might be able to keep the majority of your own country ignorant to the opinion of the rest of the world but thats where it ends.

The fifth reich just fell on its arse.

The second one was won by the Russians not you, you helped us a little bit is all. Purely out of self interest. Thats why you stayed off the mainland of Europe till Germany had all but spent itself against the Soviets.

You should also remember that soon you wont be THE major player in world politics or that big a player in world economics.

They have to pay £240,000
to the court , no cheque.

A Nightclub owner

Sweden has put in a appeal

What julian assange raping 2 women in Sweden has to do with the US, i have no idea.

If the USA had as much power as you all seem to think we do, you'd already be dead.

Basically al the furore has shown about the US so far is that, wow, the US is serious about all the things it's always said it was serious about. Wow, the US is concerned about terrorists?? NEWSFLASH! Wow, the Us is interested in promoting US business?? NEWSFLASH! Wow the US acts in the interests of it's own people first??? NEWSFLASH!

Ever heard of the phrase "Ei incumbit probatio qui dicit, non qui negat"?

Incidentally I would recommend looking up the facts before making stupid comments.

Loved this line "Wow, the US is concerned about terrorists?? " you should do comedy. Isnt it funny how America didnt give a toss about terrorism when it was occuring to their friends and allies in the 60's, 70's, 80's and 90's? Strange that one aint it?

You know Innocent till proven guilty - Ei incumbit probatio qui dicit, non qui negat (Burden of proof and all that).

After handing himself in to police he was arrested on suspicion of commiting sexual offences in Sweden.

Incidentally he is only wanted for questioning in Sweden, as for the rape allegations its interesting to note earlier this year the Swedish Chief Prosecutor withdrew international arrest warrants stating "I don't think there is reason to suspect that he has committed rape"

Got to love this comment from the gobsh1te who wants to be the first female President - Palin has said WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange should be hunted down in the way armed forces are targeting the Taliban and Al-Qaeda. I would love to see her in full PMS flow with her finger on the nuke button.

Its also interesting to note that after the issue of the "interpol red notice" (request to locate) Assange offered to meet with Swedish Prosecutors in either London or Sweden provided they furnished him with details of the alleged offences and statements against him in a language he understood(English) The Swedish Prosecution Service refused.

lostalex 16-12-2010 12:04 PM

Sarah Palin is NO ONE. She has no political office, she has no power At ALL in America. Right now, the only job she has is reality TV star.

She has no more power than Kim Kardashian or Paris Hilton or any other reality TV star.
