Flippin' 'eck grandparents don't get written off. Infact they get used to look after the kids and often have them more than the parents! He's not past it. Plus (again) he has David too |

As for your comments above: Elton has gone through the surrogacy route: not regular adoption -it's an entirely different process and cannot be compared in the way you are trying to do. I'm quite sure Elton would be delighted never to need to take care of your dog. I'm sure he'll be far more delighted at taking care of his son. |

He's a millionaire, can buy anything he wishes. And now he's found the ability to buy a baby. He's 63 by the way. Now I read he's going on a world tour. So commitment is obviously very high on his list - commitment to his career I mean. "Baby? What baby? Oh that baby .... Mmm, bored ... what else can I have .... " It's all very 'Edina Monsoon' ... |

plenty of 'regular parents' work away, plenty of them - on contracts abroad, on oil rigs, in the forces, on assignments that they cannot take family with them ....so you are saying that any parent who does that is not committed to their children? utter nonsense. |
Plus plenty of celebrities bring the tots on the road. And before you get your knickers in a twist about 'nyah that's not suitable!' his tour bus is probably better equipped than most houses. I'm sure the wee lad will be fine.

All you appear to be doing is coming across in your posts as being incredibly bitter at this news. Any particular reason why you should hold such a grudge - against Elton John or anyone of his age, becoming a father - by whatever means. |

What about 'everyday non celeb parents' who are not able to give their children an active life (which is a weird thing to say: the child will be active,as all children are!!!) - if you mean someone who can go around kicking a ball with their kid - there are thousands of fathers out there who are overweight, obese, unfit, have health problems that prevent them doing this - and plenty who simply can't be arsed -and quite a number of fathers who work incredibly long hours to provide a roof and all that a child needs, and who simply don't have the time to have regular active play time with their children. Your reasons are without substance, petty and to be perfectly honest: ludicrious. Firstly, you bleated on about adoption rules, when Elton and David are not adopting, they chose the surrogacy route. You then gave it the, "A child needing a 'mothers love' patter, which is nonsense as some mothers can be inherently evil - now you're banging the 'hes too old a man' drum. Are you homophobic by chance? I ask because all I'm seeing from you is an empty vessel making much noise. Another little snippets for you in respect of your "the rich can adopt but ordinary couples have to meet strict rules" and your 'child needs a mother's love' nonsense.... Quote:

How many ordinary couples out there would take on a child that was HIV positive. Not many. It's an absolute travesty that this little boy wasn't given the chance to be adopted by Elton & David - all through nothing more than bitter prejudices based on age and sexuality. The only person who has lost out was this little HIV positive boy. |
Some of the homophobic and ageist opinions stated on this thread are disgusting and quite frankly I feel sorry for any kids whose parents hold such views which will, no doubt, be passed on to them, thereby perpetuating such nonsensical, prejudiced and malicious attitudes.

I'm not sure if i agree with same sex couples having kids. I understand that they are obviously just as capable as a hetro couple as long as they are stable but a child needs both a male and female role model, there is an element missing, and kids being kids there will be some bullying for it, simply for being different.

Actually what if a boy's mother dies and he's brought up by just his father and a brother, uncle or grandfather?
