GOOD head..?
If you think making jokes about a death is good, I'd hate to see what you think bad is..

I know that sounds really harsh and everything, and obviously his family must be sad because he was younger than old age if you know what I mean, but I never knew him and, let's face it, Steve never played a part in my life, so I can see what Jake is saying, but Jake for the sake of everyone on here getting annoyed at you maybe you should have kept your mouth shut! Lol

So all Australians don't go around saying "g'day mate"??
I heard it once in my life but that was in a real bogan area.

And people are taking what I have said so stupidly that I cannot believe. I'm not joking about death... half my life has had death in it so I'd be the last one to joke about it
Aww I feel sorry for you now ...

I'm on your side  hehe but maybe you should have been a tad more sensitive ... no? Ok?

PEOPLE, he wasn't joking about Steve Irwin's death in an offensive way! I didn't really find it offensive (although obviously I wouldn't, because ... well yeah) and, well, his death, although it's sad - people die everyday, people who have children, a family, whatever. Yes, it's sad, but it IS part of life and what Steve Irwin was doing was kind of bound to get him hurt someday, at the least.
Finally, someone other than Ash with a good head on their shoulders
Well *blushes*

Bells 04-09-2006 01:46 PM

I'd like to think we all have good heads on our shoulders lol, but the point is, I can't see why people are jumping all over each other just because they're expressing their opinions.

And Emz - yes!!

So she has a good head becuase she agree's with you?

Chrizzle 04-09-2006 01:47 PM

Because Ash, I dont think its very nice..
Is that such a problem?

Im sticking to my opinion, unlike some..

Look, I dunno how your mind works but there was no "death" jokes... I would never joke about the subject. You and Mark tend to get carried away without checking the facts first, and thats what normally gets you into so many arguments

emz438 04-09-2006 01:47 PM

I never said making jokes about death was good, I just never found the 'jokes' offensive. Steve Irwin didn't really mean anything to me.

Im with Chrizzle, so what you dont like him? At least show some respect to the man. Hes dead. You havent shown anything sign of respect or remorse for him. You've just been rude and what you've said was uncalled for. Your very selfish.

And I'm sticking to mine, that I think you should give it a rest now.

You've said plenty of times that you don't like the fact that Jake made jokes. Why do you have to keep saying it over and over again and being more argumentative, and making it worse?

Siouxsie 04-09-2006 01:49 PM

:nono::nono:End it now Guys

Chrizzle 04-09-2006 01:50 PM

Just because you dont like someone, its just not very nice..
Can you not see that?

Steve irwin was not a bad man, he hadn't done anything wrong.
So he made a stereotypical view of Australian people..
Your doing that now.
Your making them come across as not very nice..

Bells 04-09-2006 01:50 PM

EXACTLY what Ash just said..
Hm.. intresting
We obviously think alike..

Yeah, he did actually ... I think that's a sign of respect - I don't particularly agree that remorse has to be shown though - we never knew the man personally! He wasn't a friend of mine, or in any way part of my life! It's sad for his family, but I just don't think it's sad TO ME. I don't think that's selfish, I think it's pretty practical. I know he's dead, but thousands of people die every day ... we don't acknowledge 99% of their deaths, and if Steve Irwin wasn't on a TV program about crocodiles, we wouldn't acknowledge his either.

Bells 04-09-2006 01:52 PM

You know what they say, bad minds think alike..
Wasn't it 'great minds think alike'?

Chrizzle, I've always tried to respect what you're saying, but I don't see why you have to say the same thing a gazillion time over 4 pages - it comes across as a tad argumentative.

Yes. And luckily im not stupid enough to actually judge EVERY person, cos they are different.
Others might thoygh..

I don't think there's much need to get personal, Ash is a genuinely nice person who's voicing her opinion, just like you are. There is no right or wrong in someone's opinion.

I never said 'I think Australians are nasty'
I said your coming across as Nasty, and meant (but didnt say) others might feel that way.
But I dont judge based on one person.
Its my fault for not explaining myself

Ruth 04-09-2006 01:56 PM

Jake:

Would you prefer people to think that Aussies are a nation of passionate and friendly environmentalists, whose only crime is to say 'Crikey' a lot?

Or would you rather that people thought Aussies were unfeelings sods, who enjoyed the fact that someone had died?

Bells 04-09-2006 01:57 PM

In that case, you are being personal.
Which is really unfair considering I've been nothing but respectful and nice towards you.
Some people...

I'd rather chew on glass than to say Crikey

Yeah, I don't think Ash has said anything really rude or disrespectful towards you, Chrizzle - she has tried to just end the argument and be quite respectful towards the death of Irwin. It just didn't effect her - same with me really.

But I like that I'm liked lol

No you didnt.
The question wasnt 'would you say crikey'
The question was which stereotypes would you prefer

... and I answered by saying I'd rather chew on glass than say it. Meaning, if you actually thought for once, that I would rather have the second option

emz438 04-09-2006 02:00 PM

Yeah, well I can see in which way he answered the question to be frank. I think it's getting a little petty now ... :wavey:

JakeyBoy 04-09-2006 02:04 PM

Funny how they're talking about respect when they have turned this thread into an argument

emz438 04-09-2006 02:08 PM

Lol not that I was entirely blameless ... I love a good argument

KK well it's sad that Steve Irwin is dead ... even though I never knew him and he never effected my life in any way. I feel bad for his family but more sorry for the people in Africa. I know that sounds really harsh - and blunt - and stuff, but I'm just not really that "full of remorse" or whatever. Ahh this sounds so bad! Although that's pretty much my opinion.

Well he was a multi-millionaire so I guess it's not harsh to feel bad for the people in Africa
