I think those who play the racism card can obscure the very real damage that racism causes. To my mind, claiming racism where none exists is as bad as not challenging racism when it does occur.

But everyone seems to recoil from Pauline's intense egotism (quite rightly) and everyone seems to warm to Marlon's easy going nature (quite rightly).

For viewers watching the show, the housemate's race is no more relevant than their height. It's all about the person.

Also, Jale seems to have some substantial support on this forum. I would take a bet that by birth Jale is of a different race, given her name, yet I don't detect an outpouring of hatred for her, which kind of quashes the 'racism' card. It has to be more about Pauline's vitriolic claptrap than anything remotely racial.

I can remember Jackie having a go at Gina for some reason to do with food ( I think ) a few times but she did it to Dexter throughout the series, tbf though she didn't get anywhere near the hate that Paulines getting, not because she's white but because Paulines more nastier about it.
