Here's a word to anyone that would like to make a suggestion, don't even bother. There's 100/1 chance of your thing happening.

No ones stopping you discussing it.

The answer will still be the same and so it's pretty pointless to discuss it over and over IMO.

I'm sure I already told you this before Tom but just because there is a suggestions forum it doesn't mean you can get every single thing you request, I mean you posted before in a suggestions thread 'BUT WE WANT IT!!!' or something similar...

Josy 28-09-2014 06:56 PM

And your mini tantrum in this thread kinda proves my point above.

There will be times when you can't get what you want.

Black Dagger 28-09-2014 06:57 PM

You can't always get what you want (8)

Jake. 28-09-2014 09:07 PM

Doesn't bother me, although I don't see how the 'spam posts shouldn't count' argument is still valid given how the majority of the forum posts are now taken up by countless gifs

Well, that'll teach Tom not to try anything with the mods again (until he makes the same thread in a week or so's time)

When i was ten, there wasn´t such thing as forums. Tbh, there wasn´t even internet.

Bluerang1 28-09-2014 10:54 PM

Other forums have sections that don't count towards total posts. What else is new

..yeah, this really..I'm only on three forums but they all have similar sections to chat and games where the posts don't count so I think it's fine as it is...I never get though, why some threads/gifs/pics etc are ok and some aren't ok because they're all 'spam' as such...

James 29-09-2014 06:54 AM

The fact that some people care about what their post-count is means that - if it was made that Chat and Games posts counted - it would just encourage a lot of posts to be made which only have the purpose of increasing a count, and posts like that wouldn't be very interesting for others to read.

So it wouldn't improve the forum.

..I'm not sure..was chat and games ever meant to be interesting....I thought it was more just a fun thing and maybe a bit silly as well with lots of 'spam'..it's more I think, how some 'spam' is annoying and some isn't seen as such when potentially, depending on your humour..?..it's all 'annoying' or 'fun'....and it all keeps it ticking over at quieter times...but I agree, I don't see that there needs to be a change in counting it as most forums have similar areas that also don't count....

Ammi 29-09-2014 08:17 AM

..just something that Tom mentioned...people do give their time to run games and it's something that they do for others and not for themselves so it benefits lots of people and the forum as a whole etc...I don't think it would be practical to have all posts counted in games but maybe there could be a 'game award' icon/just a general one which could have it's own 'count' to be added to every time that member hosts a game...so that the host and the winner both get recognised for their contribution....

I quite like the idea of a host award lol, but I run the game for satisfaction of running a good game (which sometimes gets hampered by outside factors like laptops breaking down lol)

Also with posts counting in games I don't feel it should; most games on TiBB are just for a forum vote and a lot get spammed. The only exception for me would be The Mole and In Cold Blood where the missions actually require massive team work in quite difficult challenges and the games are more of an intelligent strategy game as opposed to a popularity vote; even Elimination and Survivor I would class in the non-post counting bracket as again it's all based on a vote.

..yeah, but I think also people apply for the experience and fun/satisfaction etc but the winner still gets an award but the host gives so much time also..so maybe that should be recognised more..?...I know that members appreciate it but it would still be quite nice, I think...and also, during off season, the forum would pretty much not be nearly so active without games being hosted...

Surely this is the only forum where having more posts is like a badge of honour?
I'm embarrassed enough that I have 4,000. If chat and games counted it could have been much worse D:

..not really, no..I'm on two other forums and I have seen on both, post counts being used to 'insult' in some way...and that is from the point of...ughhhh, get a life, look at your post count...and the other way of...who are you and your tiny post count..?...similar such things...member post counts are usually in their avatar and visible but it would be also fine if they weren't displayed, I think...but I don't think that would be the issue, though because people would still snipe and insult if they were inclined to do so/because it's the members themselves...if that is the objection or dislike of it being visible...

..in all seriousness, I think on any forum a post count is something you hold for your interactions and time on that forum and something to be proud of because it means that you have wanted to be there/enjoyed your time there..?..whether it's displayed on the forum or just in your profile that really doesn't matter but if it's being used as an insult, then that's really just that person being an idiot and being silly/and they probably would be anyway... because it's actually saying that the forum is a great one to be on..and with newer members who haven't posted as much maybe...?...well, what forums need to be able to thrive and survive are new members so if someone is using their post count as an insult/well they'll just end up with a 'dead' forum if people don't stay..so again, just silly really....

JoshBB 29-09-2014 09:40 AM

Yeah it should, but it should count from a certain date only since a lot of it is spammy. Have another section for spam and discount those.

I would give it a month until a "why can't posts in 'new spam section' count" thread pops up, and it would also cause confusion as to which threads go in which section, there's already confusion sometimes between something going in General Chat or Chat and Games

Kyle 29-09-2014 09:54 AM

Maybe you could make like another sub forum for chat & games where people can spam gif's of ladies pointing and making funny faces to their hearts content for extra posts. That way it would also filter out the riffraff for the real chat & games and dare I say make it almost as quality as the sports section.

Ammi 29-09-2014 09:57 AM

..talking about sub-forums, because there are always lots of new quizzes etc and because they're quite popular with lots of members..what about having a quiz sub-forum, I think that they have one on another forum I'm on..?...

Back in your day, eh?

Josy 29-09-2014 10:08 AM

I think quizzes would come under the 'games' part of the c&g section.

I honestly don't think we need any other sub forums right now tbh, as Matt mentioned people already get confused between c&g and General Chat, we also have General Interests too...

Posts counting in Chat and Games is literally near the bottom of the ''i literally don't give a ****'' list in my life
