GypsyGoth 16-11-2014 06:45 PM

:amazed: I'll try :D

I'll pick one later on tonight, with one or two backups in case my first choice is tough to find for peeps or whatever.

Shaun 16-11-2014 06:58 PM

claudia's gonna force a random Finnish film on us isn't she

GypsyGoth 16-11-2014 07:02 PM

Just Boyhood every week tbh, think we should all submit 10,000 word essays by the end of December

Raph 16-11-2014 07:03 PM

Yes boyhood every week sounds like a plan :clap1:

GypsyGoth 16-11-2014 07:54 PM

I was gonna pick Guardians of the Galaxy, the soundtrack is great and the movie is fun, however I think it might be a bit difficult for people to find. So instead I've gone for The Fault in Our Stars! It's on the site Locke posted and seems to be good quality.

http://www.vodlocker.me/2014/06/watc...line-free.html

Is that okay with everyone?

Ramsay 16-11-2014 07:59 PM

Guardians of the Galaxy is on yify but yeah either is fine by me

Drew. 16-11-2014 08:01 PM

The Fault in Our Stars is good with me, do you know if its on Netflix? (I'm assuming it's not as its recent though)

MTVN 16-11-2014 08:01 PM

Boyhood only gets a 2/10 from me I'm afraid

Boyhood - 10/10

loved it :flutter: instant classic. Ridiculously ambitious, but refreshingly down-to-earth and loveable and relatable and endearing. It made me feel pretty sad just because the film's main bond seemed to be the father/son one, and I've missed out on that, but it was sweet.

I've already seen the Fault in Our Stars and I'd give it a 6/10... I was expecting it to be worse and the cast is really good, but idk, I just can't look past John Green's obnoxious storytelling and the whole "let's make out in an Anne Frank museum because it's seizing the day!" balls. It was pretty nauseating and just a kind of "yeah there's beauty in the world when there's cancer" message and that's great and everything but ugh. Too teenmovieish  I probably sound harsher than a 6 LOL but Shailene Woodley is a great actress and the supporting cast was good too... didn't go too much on Ansel Elgort, he was just a sort-of token dreamboat doofus I guess, and oh GOD the cigarette 'metaphor' PLEASE SHUT UP. But no, nice acting, nice little story, nice message, but irritating.

Niamh. 17-11-2014 01:26 PM

I already know what I'm going to pick if I get a chance

Locke. 17-11-2014 01:32 PM

The Fault in Our Stars - 6/10

I liked it, but having watched my fair share of Simp movies a few months back I don't think it's as good as some others in this genre (Remember Me, Keith, etc). I thought Shailene & the guy playing Augustus worked well together and were both really likeably in their roles, Willem Dafoe played a great horrible bastard as well. I knew that the ending was supposed to be really sad and that it leaves most people (women) crying but I didn't really think it was that emotional at all.. I mean I wanted
Spoiler:

Augustus to live
but it was nowhere near as bad as main characters deaths in most other movies. But yeah, it's an enjoyable film and I actually liked all of the characters which is pretty rare. Plus the author is a Liverpool fan so that's always a bonus.

Natalie. 17-11-2014 02:33 PM

Spoiler:

Saw this the other week, I liked it and thought Shailene and Ansel worked well together. Didn't think it was too sad, maybe because I already knew the ending :spin: I loved the character of Augustus. Would watch it again in a few years, also didn't really like John Greens little bit in it :/ even if he was on screen for a minute

6/10

Tom4784 17-11-2014 03:40 PM

I've been avoiding this one, I thought the book was pretty good but the film trailers disgusted me. I shall give it a chance and watch it on Wednesday though.

Niamh. 17-11-2014 03:41 PM

I'm going to have to stream this on my lunch break and watch it over a few days I think

Raph 20-11-2014 07:52 PM

Will try and watch this tonight!

LukeB 20-11-2014 09:03 PM

oh ****, forgot about this!

Ramsay 20-11-2014 09:04 PM

i have it downloaded. will watch it after i have a wank.

Black Dagger 20-11-2014 09:05 PM

Will watch this now I think. Don't want film club to flop before even watching a 2nd movie </3

Amy Jade 20-11-2014 09:11 PM

The Fault in our Stars is one of the best movies of the year

Fetch The Bolt Cutters 20-11-2014 09:20 PM

TFIOS :flutter:

LukeB 21-11-2014 01:14 AM

I might have to miss this film i'm afraid, i have reasons but i don't want to discuss, I See how i feel (my friend told me what happened and it just put me off)

Ramsay 21-11-2014 01:17 AM

6/10
I just couldn't get into it really i mean i know it was sad but mehhhh..
Spoiler:

suppose it was good that it ended up being Gus that died, was full expecting Hazel to die at the end tbh. nice ending though, Willem Dafoe was fairly random

I'm moving out today so won't have internet for the next week or so i'd say. so best to leave me out of picking the next movie Locke.

Tom4784 21-11-2014 11:03 AM

5/10

I liked the book but I felt that the film amplified some of the more pretentious parts of it while watering down some of the best bits. I thought Shailene Woodley put in a good performance as Hazel but everyone else were kind of bleh.

Niamh. 21-11-2014 03:23 PM

I have about 15 minutes left of this to watch, will get it done before sunday

JoshBB 21-11-2014 03:33 PM

Sign me up! Also, I will watch the movie tonight hopefully. If not, tomorrow.

LukeB 21-11-2014 08:55 PM

8/10 - Finally plucked up the courage and watched this film. The main female and male :clap1: Their acting was spot on! The storyline was really good and isn't like your typical love story film. Some scenes did make me cry a little but I won't discuss them on the review because I don't want to spoil it for anyone.

Locke. 21-11-2014 08:57 PM

6 reviews so far, I expect double figures by this time tomorrow night :idc:

Ammi 22-11-2014 04:35 AM

..sorry I didn't post ratings yet, Locke but I did watch them both...

..Boyhood 10/10...just really quite perfect although I do agree that it could have been around 20 minutes shorter...it really was a 'nostalgia' journey in that I could relate both to them as teenagers and also to the mum as well....'I'm so happy you were born' as he was going off with his dad..yeah, that's me..much to the embarrassment of my children...I loved how Ethan had a haircut, grew a moustache and became 'sensible dad'...I also loved the conversation they had when he sold his classic car.....loved, loved, loved it....

Ammi 22-11-2014 04:37 AM

..Fault in Our Stars....hmmm, really not my kind of movie at all although the two young leads were very endearing so that made it a bit more watchable and Willem Dafoe is always so watchable...5/10, I guess....

Udanax 22-11-2014 08:59 AM

Is it too late to sign up..? Because I'm literally just about to watch this film

Nope, anyone can sign up whenever they want

Raph 22-11-2014 05:43 PM

8/10. Didn't think I would like it as i'm not too keen on films like this but it was pretty well executed. I really liked the performance of Ansel Elgort in particular. Having not read the book, I suppose I was less critical about it, but I did really enjoy the film. My main criticism though was that I got bored and just wanted it to end towards the end

Raph 22-11-2014 05:45 PM

Purdy, you updating the average boyhood score?

Niamh. 22-11-2014 06:28 PM

The Fault in Our Stars

I enjoyed this and didn't enjoy it all at once, It was better than I was expecting but it was really sad and depressing at the same time. I'm finding it really hard to give it a rating  I think I'll go with 7/10
