I would imagine not well

MB. 08-06-2016 11:22 AM

Well bugger

Oaker 08-06-2016 11:23 AM

Let's hope this series does a BB14 and brings in more viewers as it goes :clap1:

(Even though this is really unlikely)

Isn't that what BB16 did? :worry:

Oaker 08-06-2016 11:25 AM

BB16 actually did get a boost in viewers after 4in4out, I just checked :worry:

RichardG 08-06-2016 11:25 AM

c5 to bring back helen again?

Oaker 08-06-2016 11:25 AM

Let's just hope this a good series and not worry too much about the ratings tbh

Samm 08-06-2016 11:26 AM

Could of been better if they promoted it more, but meh you see overnight figures for shows dropping more and more every year, it's the officials that matter the most

I never understand why fans laugh at low ratings and it possibly being axed....Why are you even watching? Actually stay it needs the extra viewers lol even if they are trolls!

Well, we don't know what the +1 figure, with a 1.4m excl it will be a ~1.6m.

But your point still stands, if BB16 launched at 1.8m like it did, and then dipped to 0.9-1.0 the first weekend, then we can certainly expect that this year.

IMO, last night got 1.58m incl +1, and tonight will get 1.21m.

I didn't expect massive ratings its not an event anymore but why do we see 1.6 million basically as a disaster when its still slaying all the other reality shows barr I'm a celeb.

TOWIE gets about 500k and I think its highest was only ever 1.7 but is seen as a phenomenon and all its cast turned into stars same with Geordie Shore that gets under 1 million in overnights I believe and Love Island? 700k.

What did BOTS get? God I had to switch that off it was just all about orgies and ******* it was like an episode of EuroTrash.

MB. 08-06-2016 12:01 PM

-asks why people even watch BB if they dare to criticise it or acknowledge that it isn't doing brilliantly well-

-goes on to immediately criticise BOTS-

No I wonder why people LAUGH at it doing bad and BOTS is a different show.

Rob! 08-06-2016 12:04 PM

I saw the last ten minutes or so of BOTS last night before the live feed and it was absolutely awful. Poor Debbie McGee having to deal with the death of her husband and Tiffany in the space of a few months

Oh sorry I was confused by you posting LOL!

"lol how long before they axe it?"

RichardG 08-06-2016 12:09 PM

perhaps you shouldn't take everything so seriously, i wouldn't still be watching the show after so many years and posting about it on a dedicated forum if i didn't care about it would i?

crazycolaist 08-06-2016 12:11 PM

Official will get it to 2m we hope

crazycolaist 08-06-2016 12:12 PM

does overnights incl recordings or is that officials?

Look if you make a comment laughing how my fav show didn't perform well its like a fan laughing at your fav football team losing lol.

I just don't get why fans find it funny (not just you a lot of members genuinely laugh at it when it fails which I don't understand) when it doesn't do as well as expected especially when with all the effort producers put in.

Ive been watching 16 years its my baby lol.

Rob! 08-06-2016 12:26 PM

+1 apparently took it up to 1.6m. It looks better but it's still dire. God knows where it's going to go from here.

*mazedsalv** 08-06-2016 12:26 PM

According to Broadcast:

BB launched with 1.6m (8.4%) including +1, down on last year's 1.8m (10%), but was up on the channel's 980k (5.5%) slot average.

It's poor but not as bad now the +1 is in there.

Rob! 08-06-2016 12:27 PM

Where did it come in relation to the other channels?

*mazedsalv** 08-06-2016 12:31 PM

Well, the EU debate was the first time ITV on a Tuesday (bar BGT semis) got over 4m in ages! ITV Tues are usually flops and never goes over 2.5m.

So, that would have damaged it, as would Love Island.

Headie 08-06-2016 12:35 PM

Damn, this really is gonna be the last civlian series ain't it

Probably.

But CBB is more popular, so if it's down, it's down, and nothing will help it.

*mazedsalv** 08-06-2016 12:40 PM

So, predictions for the next few days...

Tonight- 1.18m
Thursday- 1.15m
Friday- 0.95m (against opening ceremony)
Saturday- 0.59m (10pm after England Euro match)
Sunday- 1.14m

In comparison, BB16....

Launch- 1.8m
Wednesday- 1.19m
Thursday- 1.20m
Friday- 1.35m
Saturday- 0.75m
Sunday- 1.12m

Ross. 08-06-2016 12:43 PM

Chill and just enjoy the show people

daniel-lewis-1985 08-06-2016 12:46 PM

I think BB just has a core audience now of around 1.2 who will allways watch live and it still has its say 300k who catch up and I cant see it dropping off much like it used to. Yes we used to get big numbers for launch but the drop off was huge now more people stick with it.

zakman440 08-06-2016 12:50 PM

That rating is awful tbh, but it was to be expected with the lack of promotion in comparison to Love Island (and Rylan backing out of Radio 1).

The problem is, if the next few weeks continue to be so low then that's when the producers start going in to panic mode. If they attempt to reset the series again in a few weeks time, they run the risk of losing the audience that's still there.

Daniel and Jack are going to have strokes when they see this :worry:

Nah, this is precisely what I expected. In fact I thought it would be lower

The promotion ****ing sucked, people kept trying to defend it but it sucked. And they've rightfully paid the price. Unfortunately for us fans this is going to be the last civilian series so let's enjoy it before C5 ram the proverbial dick of CBB down our throats forever more, which I won't be staying for

Rob! 08-06-2016 04:04 PM

I think the best we can hope for at this stage is that the officials beef it up. Last night at the very least should hit 1.9/2m in the officials.

nonstop 08-06-2016 04:42 PM

Christ, those are poor ratings for a Launch. Channel 5 should just end the civilian series.

Jason. 08-06-2016 04:52 PM

That is an awful rating but it was to be expected. Not only because the promo wasn't as good but the show is never going to rate as well after BB15/16. Not to mention they've lost quite a percentage of the loyal 1.6m viewers they had 3/4 years back.

And the promo was awful - my sister only found out it was launching half an hour before the launch even started. :umm2:

*mazedsalv** 09-06-2016 08:56 AM

Big Brother (10pm): 1.36m (9.1%)

That's the smallest launch to first night drop ever on BB.

That's quite impressive considering BB launch got 1.39m excl +1. And to be at 10pm, the share was much higher than launch. However, not much will be added on +1 because that would have been broadcasted at 11pm.

To compare, Big Brother 2015 first HL show got 1.19m incl +1, and this is set to be ~1.5m with +1.

Love Island went on to post a phenomenal figure of 0.92m excl +1

MB. 09-06-2016 09:01 AM

Okay that's slightly less disconcerting and would suggest some sort of stable audience at least

For sure.

Last year:
Launch- 1.83m
1st HL show- 1.19m

This year:
Launch- 1.6m
1st HL show- ~1.5m

The norm is a drop of 20-25%, last nights drop (excl +1 anyway), barely even registers a 5% drop.

So, does this mean, a 10pm slot will help BB this year? Tonight and tomorrow it's back at 9pm. Both facing Love Island and then Euro's on Friday, so that will be tricky.

But it's very positive news for last night though.

RichardG 09-06-2016 09:09 AM

omg I was kinda nervous clicking on this thread  that's good, I can only hope it improves because if last night was anything to go by then I think this is gonna be a very good season^.^

i'm kinda shocked tho, it got quite a lot of negativity regarding the housemate selection online so for basically all of those to still tune in anyway is surprising

I honestly think the EU debate took viewers away, as did Love Island.

Watch BB fall tonight facing Love island.

It seems after last night that LI at 9pm and BB on at 10pm every day (bar evictions of course) should be what they must do because BB had the smallest drop ever and LI got the highest ever rating since launching on ITV2 over a year ago.

Tonight will be down to around ~1.2-1.3m IMO. Perhaps 1.12m excl and then 180k on +1.

Tomorrow doesn't bear thinking about.

Jake. 09-06-2016 09:19 AM

Wow! I'm really impressed that it only dropped slightly from the launch... I was honestly expecting 900k or something, so fair play.
