Still think the acting is quite awful but then I guess that happens when you hire a cast that're 100% conveniently hot. |
The show wouldn't be popular if they cast ugly actors.

one thing that really bugged me were how everyone's lips were so pink all the time. don't know what the make-up artist was thinking there

"Yeah, well that assignment was given out by a dead person!"
..."in history...." LMAO goodbye. I was liking ep 4 until this screamer. |
Watched the first three episodes. I can understand why it's so gripping and people are fascinated with the show, because I am becoming myself. However, as much as I am really enjoying it I'm finding it REALLY hard to sympathise with Hannah. She's coming across as nothing but an attention seeking, melodramatic, annoying bitch. The first three reasons were all kinda blown out of proportion I thought? Idk I might just be a little insensitive but I can't say I'm feeling a great deal of empathy towards her.

Also, Sheri is the best character by far
Spoiler: |
My friend got me into this a while ago around when it first came out, saying it's so great and getting so much attention/positive reviews... I thought it was alright. Although I've never really liked or watched dramas like that so I guess it's pretty good for what it is.
Some of the tapes were random but I guess it all fit in so meh. My issue with this show is that I didn't like too many of the characters and that might be what they're trying to achieve but it's not great for watching. I like to have characters that I can root for / support on a show. The only ones I liked were Jeff, Sheri, Justin and I think that was about it. Spoiler: |
jess is my fav

Sheri, Tony and the guy Clay is tutoring are the only ones I like :worry: Jessica's ok, and the parents of Hannah are alright.
|
Oh yeah I was planning to say, but forgot, that I actually think I like most of the adults on this show the most - even though they were kinda featured the least overall. :joker: (although Hannah's parents were featured a lot)
Jess was ok. If I was ranking the cast, she wouldn't be too far behind the few people I actually liked. |
I can't stand Clay's mom & dad. They couldn't have been written more stereotypically if they'd tried.
|
tony is the absolute worst
|
Tony, Justin and Alex are all horrific
|
the dude who played Alex couldn't act for ****
|
The odds were pretty stacked against him tbf, portraying a heterosexual

Welp I didn't see the Jeff thing coming.
I've yet to see reason for the anti-Tony sentiment on here but the ending of E10 had me a little disappointed in him / him being a focal point for this whole "blame culture" thing that's irksome about the show in general. |
|
|
Great show. Tony was the best character. I did like the first few episodes but at the time they seemed a bit mild, although you see at the end how they did all end up leading to what happened. Last couple of episodes were pretty hard to watch at times.
|
Just Watched it all. The Media and Anyone that's complaining about it glamourising suicide has probably watched one episode. Will dive into it properly later, but it hit me at the moment due to personal experiences.
|
Starting this shortly!
|
I dunno if I should keep going with it? We watched thew first episode and a half but I'm finding the acting... ... straight up bad. And the dialogue, almost unfathomably, even more contrived and unrealistic than Dawson's Creek. Does it improve at all?

Also DO NOT shade Dawson's Creek. |

I'd look at it as "The Hollyoaks of Netflix", TS - terrible acting, largely cast of atypical hotties, with ridiculous overreactions, but tackling good issues. Haven't watched the last 3 episodes yet.

Oh I just realised that the actress who plays Skye is kevin Bacon and Kyra Sedgewicks daughter
|
Halfway through this, is it an unpopular opinion to dislike Clay?
|
I found the show to be excellent right after I watched it, but on reflection, after having gone through some mental issues this summer myself, I've come to the realization that it's horrible.
The idea that someone would use suicide as revenge to make people feel guilty forever is ****ing disgusting. Suicide is not revenge. The show doesn't touch the subject of mental illness either. And Hannah Baker is a hypocritical bitch and the worst example of a mentally ill person. Already mentioned using suicide as revenge. And then I mean, asking Clay to get the **** out, then complaining about him never staying with her? Getting mad Sheri didn't call the cops, but not doing the same when Bryce raped Jessica? Saying the counselor didn't help her, but whenever he asked her anything she made it clear she wants to leave? |
