Something like that. I’m not going to say that this was a racist crime because it was black-on-black (as much as I hate what that term generally represents) and just goes to prove what you’ve said. It just-so happens that America’s a race-obsessed country so this kind of accusation was always going to be made. Those officers were violent thugs (including the one white cop who was allegedly present) but racist towards their fellow black man they probably … weren’t.

i think it's a lot more nuanced than being racist in either of those cases. The police are trained to act first and ask questions later. They have set up special units that basically get away with all sorts of crap as long as they get results. They have made these officers believe that they are above the law and then act all shocked when they do something abhorrent. For every murder of an innocent, you can bet there are 100 that have been abused to within an inch of their lives that don't make the news at all.

It's not a matter of disbanding the police, but they need to re-vet officers and remove their superiority complex

This sickening thing is regardless of race , if this was a paedophile or rapist or murderer getting arrested .... he'd get treated ALOT better. Fresh change of clothes,no crushing of the wind pipe. He'd still be alive and well in the police station with a cup of tea probably :umm2::bored: .

I think she makes a good point in terms of people saying because the cops were black they represent black people. They don't. It's the 'I'm about to educate people' rhetoric that shows incredible arrogance that will turn almost anybody off the point she's making. She was barely able to make her point till the end.

I understand that opinion gives me the title of conspiracy theorist, but that title is a badge of honour to me.

If I were being uncharitable, I'd posit that Big Media TM hires people who make progressives look as ridiculous and unpalatable as possible, such as her and Owen Jones. Neither are particularly skilled at getting their points across in an effective way for live "debates".

Or, possibly more likely, they make good TV - they're not boring, while a progressive who can make their points well might.come off as.dry and didactic. Or, looping back to my original point, they might come off as too likeable!

But either way, it's all a circus. Certain performers might think they're educational, but they're just the dancing hippos.
