there is no way the protestor should have been allowed to get that close. That could easily have been another Rushdie moment

Hmm.
Not much new and still holding back as to what could be really popular policies .
That's very disappointing.

Well done re the protester, that could have been anything, acid or whatever he had.
Really strong to hold composure through that.

To the speech.
Arista said they were clapping before he'd finished his sentences, likely hoping the sentences were imminently going to finish.

However, it was a better speech from him with a vision albeit of one of change from the hard-line heartless actions of the present government but more cautious and responsible change.

The NHS..
Work related plans.
Housing.
Speaking up for the weakest are all things that will keep me on board.

I like the idea of more working together of government, unions and business.
I'm all for any consensus between important groupings.
So he has clearly worked to bring that about.

I'm personally not going to get from Labour in its first term of governnent, most of which I'd love to have had.
However there's nothing from the present government I'm welcoming.

Starmer it seems is gambling on growth, however if he can keep building consensus between government, unions and business, then growth may well start to be stronger fairly quickly.

He is who we are stuck with now, he certainly isn't my choice for leader.
However I'll work tirelessly all I can when the election comes to get this shambolic, divisive, heartless hard-line lot of CONS. OUT.

To do all I can in my small way to try to help ensure a Labour government.

arista 10-10-2023 02:52 PM

Joey that Growth is based on a 10 year plan

General Elections are every 5years

Thats just Cocky

No it's not.

A growth plan or other policies which may take 10 years to implement is not unusual.
In the present economic climate it is likely more realistic.

Climate policies of this present government were planned for far more than 10 years from announcements.

It's not cocky, he'd still be chucked out in around 5 years if he wasn't delivering towards those longer term plans/hopes.
