I wondering if he was on one of his fast days. He might have been extra weak.

Beso 08-06-2024 09:47 PM

Has anyone checked to see if the McCann's were holidaying there at the same time?

…I wonder how long they were planning and looking forward to the holiday break for…life can take the most strange and nightmare turns at times…I hope that today brings some news of him…

Fast days don’t make you feel weak … on the contrary , in fact

Sad reports Body Found

AnnieK 09-06-2024 08:16 AM

Very sad news that a body has been found. Awaiting formal identification but the authorities think its him.
I think this was the inevitable outcome but heartbreaking for the family

Yes real tragic

joeysteele 09-06-2024 08:22 AM

Oh this is sad to hear.

Cherie 09-06-2024 08:27 AM

So sad but not unexpected at this stage, it seems to be that freak combination of events that led to his untimely death

Ammi 09-06-2024 08:30 AM

….awwwww, not what we all wanted to hear but sadly, what we expected and anticipated hearing….very sad, but the search being prolonged for a long time would be so much more heart rendering for the family…

Gusto Brunt 09-06-2024 08:37 AM

I don't understand this. He was a 67 year old man who told people he was leaving the beach to go back to his hotel. But instead in a scorching heat of 45c he goes on a long walk ending up in dangerous caves where his body was found. No water. No mobile phone.

Of course sadly so tragic. A man who had a brilliant career, lovely family, loyal friends, adored and respected by many...

To end up dead in a cave, such a waste.

RIP.

arista 09-06-2024 08:39 AM

[The body - which has yet to be
formally identified - was found at a small cliff
on a rocky hill north-east of the village of Pedi,
near Agia Marina beach.
A police source told BBC News
the deceased had been
dead "for a number of days".

Symi's mayor said the body was found as teams
were approaching a cave next to the
beach with coastline cameras.]

Not in the Cave
at the start
so he could have fainted.............

Okay. I heard it was a cave but we'll know for definite at some point.

But the heat. 27c is too much for me and I'm 25 years younger than he was.

[Separately, a police spokesman, who spoke on
condition of anonymity because of an
ongoing investigation, said the body was found on a
rocky coast by a private boat
and that formal identification was pending.]

Of course, we will find out.

He was Stupid,
his wife knows he loved nature

arista 09-06-2024 09:12 AM

Live SkyNewsHD said it was the local TV Journalist
that found the dead body.

Their reporter walked up the hill he went
and she said it was unbearable heat.

arista 09-06-2024 09:48 AM

He has visited that Island before

Tragic waste of his Life

Zizu 09-06-2024 10:01 AM

Taking everything we know into account I’m wondering if he knew what he was doing … rather like old elephants who apparently walk into the wilderness when they know they’re dying

Maybe he had some serious illness

Yes, you might be onto something there.

Ammi 09-06-2024 10:08 AM

…heat exhaustion seems the most likely thing atm but we’ll have to wait and see…

even he has been there before.

Very sad end to what was probably a fantastic holiday.

Ammi 09-06-2024 10:18 AM

…I read that the area was highly inhabited with snakes as well …so there is a possibility that he was bitten…but over 40 degree exposed heat with no shade etc is all that is sadly required to be life threatening and life taking…

Vanessa 09-06-2024 10:22 AM

That is really sad.

it's life threatening to young folks, let alone someone in their late 60's

Yes I am hearing that now. I expect he'll be in the news for a couple of days and then the story will die off.

I can't get over wondering what the heck was in his mind to go on a long trek in scorching 45c heat. It's insane.

Sounds like a death wish. Sorry to be blunt about it.
