I saw that post about 'Middle class women of a certain age" and had to laugh. I hope he deletes these posts.

I say he should keep them.

It's nice evidence for everyone to see what he is like.

Ammi 02-12-2024 04:30 AM

…he’s just doubling down on it all and really now self harming on social media or with anything he’s saying atm…’middle class women’…?…so what does that mean, that he’s working class…?…so it’s ok to not consider how he’s making someone/a female feel when he’s making these remarks …that it’s ok, to enforce that level of discomfort because he’s just the ‘right class’ to have that entitlement….whereas the females are in that ‘wrong class’ to feel uncomfortable…I mean, even just typing it, it’s nonsensical and it’s labelling males of ‘a class’ in a way that they don’t deserve, either…so he just insults everyone…

….20 years in his career, he’s saying…and for anyone to have one accusation of ‘inappropriate’ would be pretty devastating in that career term or any career term, obviously…but his response is…13 women in 20 years….REALLY…!!!!!…is ThAT ALL YOU’VE GOT…!!!!!…well, deary, deary me, just 13, eh….that’s not even close to a number that phases me…!!!!!!!!!!….

…I don’t really have any word descriptive for the arrogance and contempt he’s showing as well as the behaviour that’s brought it all to this….its astounding…

Niamh. 02-12-2024 07:36 AM

Yeah don't get the relevance of what class the women are, does he think sexual harassment is like comedy and its fine as long as you aren't "punching down" or something? Weird

Ammi 02-12-2024 07:49 AM

…and also…the ‘oh gosh, only 13 in 20 years/that’s pretty good going…’…!!!!…when one accusation of inappropriate behaviour would in itself be quite devastating …to be made aware that he’d made someone feel very uncomfortable with comments or etc…

…I also think, for this to be ‘escalating’ so quickly in terms of what has been so obvious and open and widely experienced for such a long time…?…there may be so much more concerning behaviour to be made known…

Ammi 02-12-2024 07:50 AM

…I mean, his arrogance atm seems astounding…

I agree with you.

And punching down is a myth anyway for people to excuse being jackasses to more "privileged" communities, but heaven forbid if someone from one of those "privileged" communities dares to want to say something back. Ironically kind of like Gregg's response to these middle class women daring to "punch down" on him is probably the mindset that he is going with.

it's pretty obvious to me that there is a culture problem at the bbc that people have just not addressed no matter how many complaints have been received against numerous "stars".

I don't think there is any solution remaining but to completely gut the bbc. It's too large an organisation to be managed correctly

smudgie 02-12-2024 10:27 AM

Whatever the truth of the matter, surely he must be finished now, his arrogant attitude says it all.
Is he saying if you are a bit posh you don’t have a bawdy sense of humour?
There are so many better qualified people out there that can replace him on our screens.

Livia 02-12-2024 10:57 AM

I've never understood the whole Greg Wallace thing. He was a grocer, wasn't he? He was never a chef, and he has no redeeming qualities at all. He's not engaging, he's not funny... and now it turns out he is a rude, arrogant cock.

Yes a Grocer,
able to do many shows,

On the Weekend
a Taxi Driver phoned in,
to LBC
he picked up Greg,

He said Greg asked him
about his
sex life.

The Driver told him it was wrong to ask that.

And stopped him from asking......

arista 02-12-2024 01:58 PM

Wallace has now Apologised for his
middle-class women comment.

He's issued a terrible non-apology type apology on Insta. Full of qualifiers and buts. He's sorry to any one offended by his 'Middle class women ' comment but he was in a bad head space. It gets worse and worse. Half way thru listening I was like "Get off social media, you mug'

Crimson Dynamo 02-12-2024 08:38 PM

The BBC have championed him non stop for 20 years

Do not pay them anymore

rusticgal 02-12-2024 09:31 PM

He looks like an arrogant twat who thought he could get away with it…a big headed self entitled idiot who can’t own his behaviour.

…I mean, surely that’s what his closest advisors are saying to him and that would be the kind version…’he’s sorry for the upset that he may have caused some people…’…what people are those, then…are they the middle class women of a certain age or are they the ones that he made feel uncomfortable with his sexualised repartee…he wasn’t in a good headspace and felt under siege…what sort of headspace does he feel that those women felt that he made feel uncomfortable when they were working with him in their professional lives…I imagine their headspace wasn’t great, either and when they did speak up…and it was all allowed to continue to what it is now…

…that apology was nothing other than me, me, me…and ‘the bad day that he was apparently having…’….no addressing or mentioning at all of the bad days his comments may have created…and how helpless those comments can make people feel …still no self ownership or even awareness at all, it would seem…

For the Master Chef BBC1HD show, to carry on
they must replace Greg.

It is the only way it can go on.

Cherie 03-12-2024 08:58 AM

He sounds like a smug arrogant arse, that said I would have hoped that some of these women complaining called him out at the time? Does Penny Lancaster really need Rod to go into bat for her? Kirstie Allsopp? I appreciate complaints have been made to the BBC, but I would have hoped that some of these high profile women just didn't stand back and accept his behaviour, I have an issue with the women being called 'victims' as well

What Amazed me today
was Melanie Sykes
left working on TV because of him
