I am annoyed now as I gave Mark a karma earlier today and some bugger has nicked it why do this it isnt fair on members wanted good points from other members ie: friends so all im asking is who ever is doing this please stop it thank you :mad:

Rather than make a new thread, I thought I would recycle this one. Lol. What are everyones thoughts on karma now? Do you use it? Love it or hate it?

Hate it since day 1, I have seen many people being jealous here because they didn't have any or 'if you do this, you will have karma'. I was right when I said it would bring more competition when we didn't need any. So I guess I was right. :laugh:

I actually think I'll turn mine on (First time since Oct I think) and see where it goes :thumbs2:

Its OK. I think that it can be good for members who contantly starts fights and the like to take them down a peg or two and vice versa for helpful members.

It's a crock of sh*t. I didn't like it a year ago when it was brought in and I'm no bigger fan now. I frankly fail to see the point in it.

btw - I actually wouldn't want Karma for it, hence my banner store is karma free.

You can only use karma once every 3 hours.

I dont know because when I came back after 3 months my karma was the same.

I stopped mine on +5.

But yeah, people do take it a bit seriously.

I rarely dish out negative karma, it's usually positive.

Mines off, its annoying and clutters up the page.

It would just provoke more negative karma being given to you and would be an abuse of the system.

When karma was introduce it was stated that anyone found abusing the system... i.e only giving out negative karma would have the rights to use the karma system taken away.

well people are obvisually abusing it by targeting me

Minus 2 isn't that low I have seen people with much lower karma scores. It only takes a couple of points and you will be to zero.

If you don't like the system you can always turn it off. Then nobody can give you or take away karma. It just doesn't appear.

Why do all the admins have it turn off, they should be promoting it.

All the Admin team have it turned on.

Out of a Moderation team of nine, four of us have have it turned off. We all have our own reasons. My reason that I felt at the time it would be easy to target moderators with negative karma after giving a warning to a popular member.

Well im turning mine off then.

As I have said before. If you feel the need to give negs then give it to me. I will happily take them.

You two can mock but the system is open to abuse. Thus, it should at least be re-assessed.

I agree it is open to abuse but what system is not, the great thing is it was reviewed and made into an optional add on for those that want it and who know and accept that people will give and people will take away.

That's the only good thing about it.

I do however think there should be some research done sometimes into people with so much negative karma. I sometimes think that certain members just deduct karma willy nilly and just for a laugh sometimes.

Maybe, if you are subjected to say -10 or more that admin can be asked to look into whether that member has been targeted by someone/others

I've forgotten about it to be honest.
