I said the rest before, but the foxes aren't just left to rot, they are taken away.

~Kizwiz~ 22-02-2008 03:38 PM

Most litter today isnt biodegradable. It will be left forever if you dont pick it up

The other day I was watching Panorama and they were talking about bottled water, and its effect on the environment.

I didn't really think that a bottle that could pottentially only be used once, will last for 1000's of years.

What on earth has that got to do with dumping man made rubbish?

Wrong its all biodegradable
Tin is
Crisp wrappers are
food is
cardboard is (as McDonalds know which is why they switched from Polostyrene to cardboard)
paper is

Tom 22-02-2008 03:40 PM

Magic and kizwiz, do you both recycle?

And a lot of litter is paper based which is biodegradable.

Simple, re-use your bottle over and over its cheaper plus you dont need to keep buying them

Callum 22-02-2008 03:42 PM

kizwiz and magic don't you dare tell me where to put my rubbish thankyouverymuch.

Admin edit: try not to use all-capital letters.

Why shouldn't they? If you drop it on the street it's everyone's problem because we have to walk up and down it everyday.

Callum 22-02-2008 03:45 PM

BECAUSE THEY CAN'T. if i want to drop it i can.

Exactly, its free will:spin2:

Jack 22-02-2008 03:47 PM

It's also free will to murder someone but I think a lot of people would have something to say about that.

Callum 22-02-2008 03:48 PM

Changing the subject now are you jack:bored:

Not at all. I'm illustrating a point. Free will doesn't mean someone has the right to do whatever they wish.

Yes we recycle as much as we can in our area, and Plastics, Rubber, Metal, polythene all are just a few of the objects taht are not biodegradable!

Because they cant? What kind of reason is that.

I think a few people need to calm down. Its starting to get argumentative

Scarlett. 22-02-2008 03:50 PM

Metal is biodegradeable

it rusts then degrades into dust

Bad example to compare it to.

Dropping a chocolate bar wrapper v murdering someone
A £50 fine (here) v life imprisonment

No contest really ...

I wasn't comparing the act just the logic behind what Callum was saying, meaning free will gave you a license to do whatever you please.

Littering is inconsiderate, rude and lazy. There's nothing more to say on the subject really. I was bought up better than to drop rubbish wherever I please.

Wrong. Yes, the bottles can be reused but some people have to keep on buying bottled water anyway. If you do that then recycling is the best option.

Of course you can recycle after you have finished with the bottle, as chewy said.

I think this thread is getting a bit to argumenative. Calm down everyone!

A little imitation of RedMoon ?

Tom 22-02-2008 04:02 PM

Right, this far into the argument there is something I haven't said yet because it looks like I am very pro-litter.

I'm actually against it and I don't like doing it. Where I can, I will keep hold of something until a bin but there are times when I can't e.g. the hands full scenario or something which happened to me about a fortnight ago which is walking for half an hour with an empty, freezing McDonalds milkshake carton in sub zero temperatures.

I don't think people should be encouraged to litter. People should just bin things. Its actually more convenient than just dropping it, and not just for yourself. But I think in some instances it is OK, especially if there are a lot of street cleaners about like there are here.

Recycle, yes. Reuse, probably not. We buy about 5 or 6 2 litre bottles in a week. We aren't going to keep all of those bottles and use them all again.
