9000 in a summer...

Makes sense to keep the hotels open...but I know people have had to cancel weekends away because of this...pre booked rooms in january and February are already gone to someone else before the excuse you get has been told to you.

I've seen these areas..hull and Newcastle on the news before lately..something about lockdown...firstly I hope all the homeless are safe, but I can only question myself in my own head whether or not the 2 stories are connected.

There are conurbations that have a high concentration of people, but as a whole the country is not overpopulated. There are just some who own massive swathes of it so urban areas are concentrated giving the illusion of overpopulation.

If he'd have actually watched the vid, he would have seen similar arguments being made to his, but in black and white.

the idea of plonking all the asylum seekers on a ferry while they get processed is certainly a novel one

Migrant crisis: Dinghies to UK could be 'disabled using nets'

[Asked whether the method was similar to Royal Navy trials,
in which nets were used to snag up propellers
and bring boats to a standstill
, Mr O'Mahoney said:
"It's that type of thing, yes. So safely disabling the
engine and then taking the migrants on board our vessel."]

[He said this was just one of a number of
methods his team has considered deploying over
the next few months, but he did not go into further details.
Mr O'Mahoney, appointed by Home Secretary
Priti Patel in August, said he was working
with people "everywhere across government to
come up with new tactics" to tackle illegal migration across the Channel.]

Four people including two children have drowned after a migrant boat capsized off the coast of France earlier today.

Search operations are ongoing after a migrant boat sank off the coast of France on Tuesday.

Eighteen people have been taken to hospital, some for treatment for hypothermia.

A young child thought to be five is among the reported dead.

The child and a woman were in cardio-respiratory arrest when they were taken into care, but could not be resuscitated at the dock.

A fourth victim, an eight-year-old child, was taken into care in a "desperate" condition and has since died.
