The left isn't winning at this election. Labour are nowhere near the left, as they promise to double down on all the failed policies we've faced for the last 14 years. Really weird comment all round.

thanks for calling me weird. They are the left leaning party in british politics. That is a fact. So take your snipy comments and shove em where the sun don't shine

I said your comment was weird, not you.

Labour are not even left-leaning anymore; how many right wing policies do they need to adopt before this myth has been dismissed?

Nothing snipy about my comment, it was a genuine opinion based on what you wrote, Never known a dude get on his high horse so much, just because an opinion you've shared, isn't shared by someone else. Now that is weird behaviour.

Labour are the most left leaning party that have a realistic chance of becoming the government in the UK.

My point about farage was that by going after the tories, the only people he is helping are to the left in British politics. If the tories end up with less than 70 seats, which is possible the way things are going, it gives freedom to labour to shift further and further to the left unopposed because the tories are likely to be out of the running for a long time

Being the most left-leaning party whilst up against the hardest RW tory government in memory, is completely redundant. It's like saying that Goebbels was the most left leaning member of the Nazi party.

Labour as a party is not in any way left leaning these days, and Farage is obviously playing the long game to ingratiate himself as future leader of the tory party. He's not helping the left by running in Clacton. It's a move to take over the party you have voted for, for most of your life.

Even if what you said was true, it's still worthless because Tories were always getting wiped out in this election. it's been obvious since covid, and there was nothing anyone (on the right or left) could have done to change that, so whether tories have 100 seats or 70 seats, the result was always the same.

i wonder if i should put a bet on that by election day, the greens will be more popular than the tories

Do Labour have anything about petrol and diesel cars in their manifesto?

Zizu 14-06-2024 08:28 AM

General Election 2024 - 4th July!

Empty promises

I really don’t see why manifestos are considered to be quite so important given its all complete tosh and none of the parties ever follow through with their promises !!

I am absolutely certain that if Labour had been in control for the last 14 years with Covid and Brexit and all the fallout from them..

We would be in EXACTLY the same position now and all the parties would be promising the earth as they are now

For the lowest 95% of us all it doesn’t make diddly squat squared of a difference which party is in power and never has

manifestos have a legal standing. If the government passes a law detailed in the manifesto, the house of lords can't delay it or reject it

The Tories are quoting dates in 2029 for one of their tax cuts to kick in .. that’s fanciful at best and complete nonsense imho

Not entirely incompatible, socialist-leaning policies aren't necessarily at odds with capitalism. You're going down the dumdum American route (lie/propaganda over there) of suggesting that "socialism" is synonymous with "communism".

The word socialism is about as much use as the term "working class"
