Even I haven't gone full Alf. I could give you my opinion of what I think is going on here, but I'm never going to, because it sounds so ridiculous that nobody would ever believe or accept it. I'll just continue to drop the odd hint every now and again, hopefully in comedic fashion.

That parallels are quite clear really - there has always been Russians heavily critical of Putin, but also Russians who idolize him, and underpinning it ... it being realistically simply not possible for him to be voted out democratically because the system is designed for that not to happen. In practice there's very little difference between a dictatorship built on fear and a single-party "democracy". I don't see any way out of the latter for the UK.
