Today is the one year anniversary

Nedusa 15-04-2014 04:43 PM

has the trial taken place yet ?

BBfanUSA 15-04-2014 04:47 PM

Not really yet. I think he waived his right to speedy trial. Which most people usually do.

Should not take place.

Security risks for that date

Has it really been a year? It doesn't seem like it... I remember I was sitting in my old place of work with my 4 best friends from my course when the news broke, one of my friends was in bits because her boyfriend had moved to Boston not long before, they'd been together for 5 years at that point, she couldn't get through to him and was convinced he was hurt... he was fine, but it was scary at the time... can't believe that was a year ago!

Jordan. 15-04-2014 05:34 PM

This was so gripping to follow at the time, I don't mean that to sound bad.

The actual Marathon is happening next week. I'm sure there will be an increased security presence. Today is a memorial service.

I remember watching the whole ordeal happening. They were on the air about it for the whole day, it was insane.

Yes Panic of not knowing
went worldwide for many.

I still think the one they caught
under that boat in a driveway
should have been shot in his head
its much better that way.
No need for this going to court
he is Guilty as his Dead Brother

Still think theres something extremely dodgy about this whole thing. Suicide attempt, while unarmed, from the inside of the mouth outwards etc :idc:

James 15-04-2014 08:27 PM

There's a documentary about the investigation on Channel 4 tomorrow at 10 pm.

Vicky. 15-04-2014 08:49 PM

Wonder if it will mention that the brothers were already known to the police when the police put out the vids asking the public to help identifying them

Funny reading this thread back now, especially the first few pages and seeing Arista's ridiculous obsession with it being an American upset about gun laws.

A shelter-in-place order on Boylston Street has been lifted and a 25-year-old Boston man is facing charges after police executed a controlled detonation of two suspicious bags left near the Boston Marathon finish line.

Just after 7 p.m. on Tuesday, on the one-year anniversary of last year’s Boston Marathon bombings, police said two backpacks had been found in the area and immediately ordered people to evacuate. Authorities said the backpacks were tied to a man who goes by Kayvon Edson. Edson was captured in several videos marching down Boylston Street in a black veil, wearing a backpack, and chanting “Boston strong.”

Edson was taken into custody and will be charged with disorderly conduct, disturbing the peace, and possession of a hoax device, NECN reported.

While police used controlled detonations on both bags, authorities said that does not mean they contained any explosives. The detonations were used as a precautionary measure.

We updated the story as it developed. Those updates, including pictures and video from the scene, can be found below.

Update, 10:21 p.m.: The suspect has been identified as Kayvon Edson, according to tweets from WBZ-TV’s Peter Wilson. He also tweeted that the backpack found at the scene contained a rice cooker full of confetti

"Kayvon" despite my attempts to not have prejudices, that name alone tells me so much, or at least makes me presume certain things about him. I hate to sound like Katie Hopkins, but it's true. shame on me.

Did anyone watch this? I found it really interesting and was seriously surprised to see the cctv footage of what appears to be him dropping the bag, the footage I didnt believe existed tbh.

Still SO many holes in the story though from the bombing onwards. And I dont really get why they are still trying to lay the murder of the campus cop at the brothers hands..when they were only accused of that because they were accused of robbing the 7/11 round the corner..and it turned out it was a lone black male who did that and that the brothers were miles away at the shell station at that time.

No mention of how he got the gunshot wound to the neck either..didnt think they would be.

However, seeing the footage, it does seem Dzhokhar is very guilty. Though why the tape is at odds with the police report is confusing (affadavit states he was stationary talking on his phone, appeared to slip bag off shoulder where he was standing then calmly walked away...footage shown today showed him walking up the street, dumping bag quickly and leaving quickly)

Jordan. 16-04-2014 11:20 PM

The cctv was a reconstruction Vicky, it did flash up only vaguely in the corner...
