Agree we looked more comfortable paying 343 than Chelsea and I never thought that would happen.

Welbeck showing why Giroud should never start upfront. Haven't criticized Big Olly too much this year as I think we dont play to his strength, so in that respect I understand why he'd be frustrated. If Marseilles have seriously bid over 20 million for him then please sell. He's 30 plus, doesn't fit into the stye of play and Wenger seems reluctant to change in order to accommodate him It'd be a good move for both parties.

Denver 30-05-2017 12:52 PM

So Tuchell to Arsenal?

Drew. 30-05-2017 12:55 PM

No thank u

GiRTh 30-05-2017 01:22 PM

If he wants the job then we should go and get him.

Arsene Wenger: Arsenal manager agrees two-year contract

Is anyone surprised? Why did he act like such a tease when we all knew he's had a deal on the table for months.

Brother Leon 30-05-2017 05:15 PM

Good ol' Conte sacrificing the FA Cup for 2 more years of Wenger.

Shaun 30-05-2017 05:29 PM

Not even mad. No one amazing available and the end of the season's been great with a new system. The problems are more the board's than his.

:joker:

After winning the FA cup I suppose he had to be offered a new contract but, I think this will be Wenger last ever renewal. Why? Cuz he has a lot more work to do than he thinks he has. Unless he pulls his finger out Arsenal wll continue to decline in the league and the fan protests will intensify. I despair at him still claiming this group of players can win the premiership. So in two years time the next Arsenal manager will inherit 30 year old Walcott, 30 year old Kieron Gibbs and almost 29 years old Ramsey. Good luck to who ever they get cuz personaly I wouldn't want to manage those three at that stage of their careers.

Shaun 30-05-2017 06:38 PM

Whilst I agree there's a lack of exciting young talent - only two that spring to mind are Holding and Iwobi - I don't think he can be accountable for that either. With the money that pours into the club being at a similar level to United, Chelsea, Liverpool (I won't say City because I still perceive them to be richer, lol) if the story last year about his budget only being £40m can he really be to blame? And with the youth development being at similar levels to others, why aren't more coming through?

My frustrations with him have been an over-reliance on old formations and players that don't work on every game - the former he's shown he's willing to change at the very end of this season and to good success. Once the latter is dealt with* I don't see why he can't be successful. I do wish we'd done a Chelsea last season though and not qualified for Europa League either because the same bad luck with injuries is probably going to resurface.

*[Gemma Collins voice] FUCK OFF, FRANCIS COQUELIN, THEO WALCOTT, KIERON GIBBS, GABRIEL
(I'm getting frustrated with Xhaka, Lucas Perez not being played, and Elneny being pretty much irrelevant, too, but these three are all decent players imo).

GiRTh 30-05-2017 07:06 PM

Holding is a prospect but remember he only came into the side due to the injury crisis. If Gabriel had been available would Holding have played? I doubt it cuz we know Wenger likes a small squad and only make changes when he really has to. Have to agree that I dont rate Gabriel at all yet I bet next year he's in the side above Holding.

Iwobi is also quite interesting. I'm not that big a fan cuz I think he epitomises the kind of player Wenger has been obsessed with lately. Technically gifted but cant run away from the slowest of defenders, Wenger still plays him even when he's hopelessly out of form - would have thought Wenger would have learned from that over the years, neat and tidy looks to pass all the time even when shooting is a better option and he seems to scuff every finish. The stereotypical Wenger player IMO. So I agree they are our only players coming thru which doesn't say much for the rest. Remember the days when we had Henry playing with Adebayor and Van Persie on the bench? We dont have those kind of riches anymore.

Totally agree that Wengers tactics are poor and his loyalty to certain players would frankly have got any other managers the sack. Personally I think the 4231 that he loves and has always loved - a mate pointed out to me the other day that the invincibles played a version of 4231 - just isnt working for a full season. However I think part of the problem is Wengers inability to coach anything else.

Shaun 31-05-2017 12:50 AM

Just re: Gabriel, I think Holding's been on a pretty equal footing with him in terms of first team preference - especially towards the end of the season with him becoming a "good luck charm". Obviously that stat will one day break but he's a great prospect.

-----

Our second signing seems imminent.

Obviously plenty of doubt around him because we seem to sign "promising youngsters", immediately loan them out, and then cart them off on a free if they fail to set the world alight, but I hope he gets given a chance.

Brother Leon 31-05-2017 01:29 AM

He's decent(he's Nigerian so of course he is). Don't think he's close to ready for Arsenal yet though..

.

As confusing as Wenger is with some of his lineups etc i don't think he can look past Holding next season, hes been unreal since he came into the side and at the start of the season when he had a run of games he looked really good then. A majority of youngsters given chances these days are due to injuries in the team, Rashford, Iwobi, Holding, a bunch of Liverpool youngsters this year too because of injuries. Plenty of young players are good enough, they've just not given the chance.. Luckily Holdini was

King Gizzard 31-05-2017 11:31 AM

Tuchel is an overrated bellend btw

Shaun 31-05-2017 11:32 AM

yeah idk why some fans wanted him. He won a cup.

Denver 31-05-2017 11:35 AM

Arsenal tend to put the trust in youths abroad or low down leagues instead of buying from British PL teams where they have had success in the past

King Gizzard 31-05-2017 11:36 AM

Can't wait for Arsene to announce his successor on the final day at the Emirates to the fans like Fergie did with Moyesy,

''Please welcome our new manager, you've got to give him a chance lads, he is the man for the job''

Drew. 31-05-2017 11:43 AM

**** sakes

Drew. 31-05-2017 11:43 AM

and yeah Tuchel has literally done nothing, he's signed exciting young players but i guarantee another manager will get more out of them than what he has

Shaun 31-05-2017 11:48 AM

I'd happily take that gravelly-voiced beast

With the over-estimation now of prices for English Premier League players going to their rivals, it's not really surprising. I dread to think how much the likes of buying Ian Wright or Sol Campbell would've cost in today's money.

Sometimes there are bargains Liverpool has just signed one of the best English youth internationals for dirt cheap.

A player is more likely to make it if they have experience with a big team in the same league

Denver 31-05-2017 11:50 AM

Plus Man City and Chelsea have dozens of capable youth players that they are scared to use should try poach them

Shaun 31-05-2017 11:52 AM

Solanke? Experience?
