Morning, all! :xyxwave:

Well done again, troops - and many thanks to the RAF and Navy for their continued support.

However, Wing Commander Sticks - I'm no expert on planes but I have a hunch that the last picture you posted wasn't a Harrier :shocked: :nono:

I believe that THIS is a Harrier!

http://www.janes.com/defence/gallery...ages3/0035.jpg

Unless anyone knows differently!!

Day shift all present and correct! :xyxwave:

splodge0 30-04-2003 10:30 AM

Absolutely right Captain! Well spotted!!

In fact, MOST appropriately, a Sea Harrier!!:laugh::laugh::laugh::laugh::laugh:

:colour:

Kaz 30-04-2003 11:05 AM

Thank you, Admiral! :xyxwave:

As I said, I'm no expert on different planes, but I do have a soft spot for the Harrier. Fascinating aeroplane - the only one that can take off and land vertically, fly forwards and backwards, and hover in mid-air! :spin2:

Before I depart this mortal coil, it's my lifetime's ambition to have a flight in one. Sadly, pigs will probably fly first . . . . . :bawling:

. . . . and this mission must come first. :xyxwave:

Oooh, hello sailors! We've gone all nautical...............

Casabianca

The boy stood on the burning deck
Whence all but he had fled;
The flame that lit the battle's wreck
Shone round him o'er the dead.

Yet beautiful and bright he stood,
As born to rule the storm;
A creature of heroic blood,
A proud, though childlike form.

The flames roll'd on...he would not go
Without his father's word;
That father, faint in death below,
His voice no longer heard.

He call'd aloud..."Say, father,say
If yet my task is done!"
He knew not that the chieftain lay
Unconscious of his son.

"Speak, father!" once again her cried
"If I may yet be gone!"
And but the booming shots replied,
And fast the flames roll'd on.

Upon his brow he felt their breath,
And in his waving hair,
And looked from that lone post of death,
In still yet brave despair;

And shouted but one more aloud,
"My father, must I stay?"
While o'er him fast, through sail and shroud
The wreathing fires made way,

They wrapt the ship in splendour wild,
They caught the flag on high,
And stream'd above the gallant child,
Like banners in the sky.

There came a burst of thunder sound...
The boy-oh! where was he?
Ask of the winds that far around
With fragments strewed the sea.

With mast, and helm, and pennon fair,
That well had borne their part;
But the noblest thing which perished there
Was that young faithful heart.

Apollogies, it was a F18-Hornet on loan from the Finnish Airforce, to make up for the one we lost earlier when Air Officer Ginger bought it.

We received a new harrier today to continue patrols :thumbs:

Wooooooooooops! :blush:

My profuse apologies, Boris.

I can only say in my defence that it must have been the distraction of seeing Sticks posting that picture of a plane which was clearly not a Harrier Jump Jet which caused this to slip my mind. :bawling:

I can assure you that it WILL not happen again.

Your trusty servant,

Kaz (Captain) x

:xyxwave:

Boris 30-04-2003 08:58 PM

Your Apology is accepted,
I know 'twas just a slip,
These often do occure,
Between the 'cup and lip'

Kaz 30-04-2003 09:07 PM

Don't know if I dare venture aboard Admiral Splodge's red-bottomed boat, Boris - I haven't taken my seasickness tablets today, so it could all get rather messy! :shocked: :blush:

Think I'll stick to 'terra firma' if you don't mind!

At your service! :xyxwave:

HHmmm. ...not those supplied privately to The Admiral you understand. :shocked:

Having spent the evening putting together a Selection of music and rhymes with a nautical bent ( ! )....for my 'other' life ...I just wondered if 'The boy stood on the burning deck'.....might mke a suitable 'encore' . Hmmmmmmmmm. :hugesmile:Will thinkabout it :xyxwave:
