[Although Keir Starmer was head of CPS, another lawyer was responsible for Jimmy Savile's case, Reuters and Full Fact report
Labour Leader Keir Starmer was head of the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) in 2009 when the decision was made not to prosecute TV and radio presenter Jimmy Savile, but he was not the reviewing lawyer for the case, according to Full Fact and Reuters. In 2012, Starmer commissioned an investigation to examine the decisions made by the CPS in relation to the allegations of sexual assault by Savile, which went on to criticise both prosecutors and the police for how they handled the case. When the report was published, Starmer apologised for “the shortcomings in the part played by the CPS”.

Well by Starmers reckoning/reasoning - if he himself was in charge of the CPS - then maybe HE was responsible - who else could be ?

Given he holds Boris responsible for anything and everything the Tories do wrong ..

He was the head of the CPS ... another example of his hypocrisy

[Boris Johnson is right. Keir Starmer's CPS did fail to
prosecute Jimmy Savile. So why all the faux outrage?]

So it was ok for Keir Starmer to make a personal attack on Boris Johnson saying his whole life had been a mess...which prompted the response regarding Saville..
No one seems to have highlighted that...

user104658 02-02-2022 11:40 AM

What are people on about "he failed to prosecute Saville" ... with what had been presented at the time, there wasn't enough evidence to continue pressing charges. I'm not a Starmer fan but suggesting he could have just stepped in and said "I'm the boss, we're forging ahead!" is just nonsense.

The overwhelming weight of damning evidence against Saville came out after his death.

I think it was a low blow but to be fair a lot of Starmers comments have been awfully "playground scrappy" too. Rubbish politics.

Labour deputy leader Angela Rayner wants police
to 'shoot terrorists and ask questions second'

She has upset many in her own party.

https://news.sky.com/story/labour-de...econd-12545044

[Ms Rayner told Matt Forde's Political Party podcast
she was "quite hardline" on law and order and said
she would encourage police to "antagonise" criminals.

"On things like law and order, I am quite hardline.
I am like, shoot your terrorists and ask questions second,"
she told the live audience who responded loudly.

"Sorry, is that the most controversial thing I've ever said?"]

I can't stand this woman, that's the most tory thing ever said by the way, how can we tackle extremism if we don't know why and how they were radicalised? We can only do this by speaking with terrorists.

The Slim Reaper 24-02-2022 07:56 PM

Just want to note that Starmer has suspended more Jews from the party since he took over, than all other labour leaders combined :joker:
