From the article in the OP, you’re wrong, they openly accused him of a crime

Katie Razzall, the BBC’s culture editor, said the naming of Huw Edwards is “a huge shock to viewers” as well as "a big shock to all of us at BBC News”.

"This is such dramatic news, this is a man who has embodied BBC values, has been the face of the BBC, has held the viewers’ hands through so many of the momentous parts of our nation’s history - whether it’s elections, royal events, the Queen’s death or the King’s coronation," says Razzall.

Razzall said that at the time the statement came from Huw Edwards' wife naming him, BBC News could at that point say it knew the identity of the presenter but had not been able to name him for legal reasons. "Now we are able to," she concluded.

That is a very clear accusation that he was buying explicit images of someone when they were 17, which would be a crime.

The same one he's run away to hide in ! Now we all have to feel sorry for him. Well piss off Huw and Mrs Huw , if he was mentally ill he should not have been at work surely.
Also funny how just yesterday HE was angry ! why ? because he'd been caught.

Edwards has a publicised history with mental health issues and being publicly wrongly accused of being a sex offender would send any normal person around the bend.

SO many nonces claiming mental health issues made them do it. Sad. It detracts from people with genuine issues

He was accused by the parents though, not The Sun. They have repeated and reported the accusations but did not make the initial report.

The paper is a gutter rag....I would love to see it and other publications disappear completely but there seems to have been inappropriate behaviour along the way.

Hopefully, now he has been named it will fade from the headlines and be dealt with privately so all those affected can get any help they need and all allegations are fully investigated and dealt with appropriately

Yet, Jeremy Vine said he heard the then unnamed presenter was 'angry'. I'm more inclined to believe Vine than the carefully written, carefully worded official statement.

Getting caught is the sole cause of this and yes it would drive you round the bend, but its self inflicted.

I’d imagine most people would be angry at being publicly accused of being a sex offender when they aren’t

Ah, the good old ‘it can’t be that bad if you’re carrying on with life and not locked up in a room’ card, lovely

Having the estranged parents of someone accuse you of being a sex offender because they don’t like what their adult child does with their life is self inflicted? I don’t think so

Beso 12-07-2023 06:15 PM

His perversion are his mental health issues.
